Stating that you beat an LS1 in any form of Mustang other than an 03/04 Cobra is going to get the GM guy's panties all wadded up.

I would like to consider myself pretty well versed in the drag race hobby and in LSx cars. Among myself and about a dozen buudies who all drive f-bodies with similar mods, we all run about the same times. Not to say that I have never seen a poor running LSx car, I have, just that people who know what they are doing can make these cars very fast with little effort. My bet is that if you lived in Chicago or Houston (the two major LSx hot beds right now) your opinion would be different.

Would you say that the majority of LSx f-body cars are driven by good drivers who know what they are doing?Dont get me wrong,I know what those carsare capable of!My buddy has a chevy shop for him & his personal friends who all drive Bowtie but me!All Im trying to say is that not all people who drive stock/mild bolt on LSx f-body cars can actually pull the performance out of them.Same aplies to the S197 guys!I have raced alot of S197s before my bolt ons & NO2 & would leave them bad more than not!Ive raced alot of LS1 & LS2 GTOs and only lost twice! Those two I lost to were freakin awesome drivers! They actually got their car to hook!I ve raced a few Camaros also and have won more than lost but dont post it here due to whats happening now!Is it really that hard for you Bowtie guys to believe an S197 could beat a LSx car?I mean really.?.

Houston modification and street racing scenes are rediculous. People in LA just buy a newer car to get faster, those guys in TX put 1500hp in IROCs for crying out loud!

I am going to say that 90-98% of the people who own what are mainly street cars are not half the driver that they think they are. Going to the track 3-4 times a year and racing from stop lights will not make you a good drag racer. This goes for Mustangs, Camaros, or any car. It takes practice to be able to launch a car especially onb a street tire or drag radial (when modded). Take my car for instance, while it is pretty easy to drive, the rpm window for launch is preety narrow. On a good track if I foot break it to 2500 rpm it pull a 1.55-1.60 60 foot. On that same track a 2800 rpm launch will blow the tires off and result in a 1.8-1.9 60 foot. When I was running a 6 speed it was even harder to launch due to the horrid 1st gear in the T56. IMO if you don't hit the track at least 2 times per month, your not going to be a great driver. Of course as the car get more powerfull it is going to be harder to launch, in most cases.

It's not much different here in Chicago. We have at least 5 shops all within about an hour of each other that pretty much cater to LSx cars and Stangs, we also have AMS and Sound Performancewhichare twoof the top shops for fast imports in the country.

4000 is it's rating, it flashes to about 35-3700. I really want to put a better tire on it and try leaving at 3-3500, I don't know how much it would help but a buddy of mine with similar mods and converterhas been 1.48 on M/T drs and a set of Welds.
