Ford GT

I know millionaires that drive old Toyota pickup trucks....and others that drive Ford Taurus's....my dads one of them. Could he afford a $150k Ford GT? 10 times over.....would he buy one? No way in hell.
If he gave a **** what others thought about him, then he'd buy a high dollar exotic car...but he doesn't, plus he likes to save money, which made him a millionaire in the first place.
If millionaire'ss/billionaire's/etc...didn't give a **** about status or what people thought about them, they'd drive cheap/reliable cars just to save money. But why do that when you can show people that you've made it? That you can afford a certain type of car. That you can live a life others dream of?
Why do you think those people own a Lear jet instead of mearly riding in one? Because they like to show what they can do....
I'm glad a few others agree with me because you're wrong. 100% wrong.

Yeah - that's why people buy those cars....to impress their neighbors and to brag about it.
For every decent post you make, you make 3 f'ing stupid ones like that one.

Stick to what you know. You are out of your element here. I don't give a crap how many 16 year olds agree with you.
I have to agree that if your filthy rich why not get the best you could afford. $150K to us is like $1,500. to them. I know if I had 3million,let alone 30 or 300million I'd be rolling in a Ferrari. This rightous attitude about being a multi-millionaire and driving a Toyota pick-up or a Taurus as to not gloat about his/her success is bogus.

You really do try to force your OPINION on others..
there are some that go both ways, but you can not argue that alot of people do not buy high $$$ cars, clothes, items.. its all the same.. JUST TO BE SEEN with it..
and im sure you were referring to me as a 16 year old.. you really ARE making yourself look like a dick,, but, im certian you could care less

I would venture an opinion to say that if someone is new to success,be it winning the Lotto, beneficiary of a large payout (will, lawsuit), or going public with a patent, Yes I can see that person getting luxury items to give the impression "look at me". On the other hand after someone has had a high level of finacial success for a long time I'ts almost like business as usual to flip luxury cars every couple of years with no intention on impressing anyone. I think after a while it would get played out for that individual.

Indeed it's all psychological, but Bickety does have points about fractional ownership. There are huge benifits. They are completely hassle free. Taxes, maintenece and general up keep will either be non existant or considerably less expensive than complete ownership. If I were worth a few million, I would lease a jet not buy one. If the engine goes out on it, not my problem.

Of course there are those people that would buy a car like that to "show off". However, most people that buy exotics don't buy them to show off. They are rich. They like cars. Put two and two together and you get: rich people buy expensive cars. Its simple math. Why would you buy a Ford Taurus if you could spend 60k for a BMW and get a more comfortable, more reliable, sexier, faster, and more advanced car? My dad's former boss owns over 300 cars. Why? to show off? no! He doesn't even drive them most of the time. He is soo filthy rich that instead of collecting matchbox cars like the rest of us he collects real life full size classic cars. Its called a hobby.

Actually, sole ownership with a lease back to a Part 135 charter operation is the best way to go. The fractional ownership programs rape you in fees, but that is a discussion for another time and place.

i've ridden in most of the cars you can think of that compete with the ford gt in any way and it is way up there. sure the z06 can almost perform as well, but ths gt is MUCH nicer, and it has a far more racey feel, and from a high roll will walk a z06 hard. we actually raced the gt against the f430 on the freeway from a 100 roll and the f got walked by a good couple cars, it was pretty insane. i can post pics and i have videos of the z06 vs the gt somewhere if you want me to find em. They stayed pretty even, but the gt very slowly was moving ahead...again, the gt is more of a ferrari competitor. far more exotic styling than the z06, outperforms it ever so slightly, much nicer/cooler interior, way more racey feel, and monstrous sound. it's a totally different car. z06=best performance for the money. gt=best overall supercar for the moeny. i would personally much rather have the gt than the f430 or the gallardo and it is a good amount less money. we drove all these cars in the same day, so the comparisons were very even. if i had 70k i would buy a z06. if i had enough for a gt, i would not even look back.
