Today in autos class i was making fun of this kid who brought his 1998 3000GT in to class (not sure why) because all of his rims have these huge dents in them and are all smashed up. He was like "Practice is the only way to get better" all defensive about it. He then challenged me to a race any where any time to see who the better driver is. I know its not gonna beclose and i could prolly pull a plug or two and still win. I just thought it was a funny story on how dumb some people are. His car is also totally stock but he thinks its the fastest car in the world.

Is it a VR4 because those are pretty quick.

 

keep in mind, even if it isnt a Vr4...the base model still had a 220hp V6...less drivetrain loss, and with a manual trans/good driver, it might not be THAT lop sided of a race...

 

If it's not a VR4 that guy has no chance in hell. The OP has a PI swap, gears and other random parts. He should be well in the 13s while a 220hp SL runs mid 15s at best. The OP didn't specify what model it was, it could have the 160 hp SOHC motor and that just wouldn't be fair. Hell he would have to be able to drive pretty good to beat him with a VR4 and from a roll the GT will eat that **** up anyway.

well, with just the PI swap, a 96-98 GT is faster than a stock 99-04 GT.

still though, if it's a vr4, i'll put my money on the vr4 from a dig.

 

If the OP is making fun of the car and judging from the amount of posts he has he wouldn't be so "cocky" if it was a VR4. I'm 99% sure it isn't a VR4 and that guy is going to get smacked.

If it was a VR4 he would have to be a pretty good driver to launch that 2 ton brick to it's full potential.

 

true, but ive read about people on here racing "Stock turbo s2000s"..and "stock turbo R32s"...i wouldnt put it past alot of people here to not know about other brands...some people dont even know about fords.
