I'm sure this has probably been asked before, but stock for stock who wins a 03-04 mach1 or a ls2 gto? I got this friend that says they are equal and that the mach might win. I thought the ls1 and mach were equal?

 

LS2...... john force did a 13.4 with a stock mach 1 and a 13.5 with a stock LS1 GTO... so the extra 100 BHP would get you no matter how bad a driver I'm pretty sure

 

my money is on the gto, but you could take the o4 model. I believe the 04 has the ls1 motor, but it's still a drivers race.

 

well I will be the one racing the mach. I've seen stock fbod's beat stock mach's b4 and the only time I raced a ls1fbod he had a lid and we raced like 5 times and everytime he didn't get closer than 2 cars especially on the highway, I'm an a4 and he had a m6.

 

From a dig it's too close to call......Those GTO's are tough to launch.....The Mach should have the edge in the 1/8 (if properly driven) but the LS2 has longer legs and theres a good chance it will run down the Mach in the quarter.....

 

Actually John Force pulled a 13.2 in a Mach 1 and around 12.9 in a LS2 GTO. It's a 50 bhp difference between the LS1 and LS2[8D]

That should be one good race. From a roll the GTO will probably(more than likely) win but from a dig it's anyones game.

 

I agree with C6... The LS2 GTOs are a SOB to launch, and they have terrible drive train loss I understand... however stock 2 stock the GTO>Mach 1... the mach is only really a set of gears away though.

 

for the 1000 time....none of the GTO's impress me..i took the LS1 and LS2 for a test drive. the Ls1 was a slug and the Ls2 was A LITTLE better. And they are hard to launch....my Ls1 camaro feels much much faster

 

I'd say its a driver's race I've beat a couple LS2 GTO's in my Mach 1. It went 13.23@107.66 stock.
