oddly, when i went from the 4.10s to the 4.56s, i gained more in the mid range than anywhere...my short times were 1.69-1.74 on average with the 4.10s and with the 4.56s, i only got down to around 1.66...i went from 12.60s to 12.40s...but my traps stayed around 104-105, although it will get up into the 106 range from time to time..
when a friend of mine asked why i was able to launch my built auto and his manual better than he can, i told him to always launch like youre trying to break it....

Canon 5D with a canon 200mm 2.8L prime(means non-zooming for those that don't know)lens. 200mm was just about perfect to fill the frame with one car from the bottom of the stands. I was shooting at f8 with a shutter speed around 1/160-1/250th of a second.
I do a lot of nature photography which is why I have such expensive equipment.
The light was crappy all day to by the way. The sun came out for about 5 seconds.

interesting..i take a ton of pictures for work...and ive been using a cheaper nikon..it gets decent pictures, but they arent professional grade. im thinking about going to a more expensive camera in the near future...within a year or so...i have alot of studying to do before i make my purchase.

You can't beat the larger ccd sensors in the digital slrs, be it canon, nikon, sony, etc. All will give superior results to the fixed lens/small sensor digitals. The downside to a larger sensor is they require a larger lens and larger lenses are more expensive. The lens I used for those pictures cost $600 and it doesn't even zoom!
A similar lens that zooms from 70-200mm with the same f2.8 aperture would cost $1100-$1300. Zooms are more complicated, generally with more glass elements which means more expensive. A prime lens will give a sharper image, however with most quality zoomlenses the difference is minimal.
Here's a full size image from the 5D+200mm f2.8L.

It's hard trying to get a sharp image of the car while shooting at a shutter speed slow enough to give a nice motion blur to the wheels and background, especially when handholding the camera. You really need a tripod and a shutter speed of 1/125th.
