Standing Dragstrip Launch
Is slipping the clutch different from dumping the clutch?
Quote: "probably the easiest thing for you to do is rev to about 2k and dump the clutch. if you bog the rev alittle higher and keep going until just before you spin too much. as you get better you'll learn to rev to about 4k and slip the clutch to get maximum acceleration all the way through first gear while on the verge of slippage." slipping the clutch is letting it out slowly while you give it more gas. You do this so you can keep the revs up in the powerband where you make the most power, but you dont let the clutch out all the way at once or you'll spin the tires.
with slicks I dump at 3000-3500rpm, mostly i just dump 2500rpm mabye a little more Rpm for best results, On street tires I launch at 3k and feather the clutch, I normally just get a little spin or little chirp.I get 2.0 -2.2 60' on street tires, is that good for street tires?

Does dumping the clutch hurt your car? It must not hurt it that much since most of the people on this site do it all the time! I put the smiley in the wrong place.
