I have an 01 GT coupe 5spd.....I have FIPK intake and flomasters....the fastest 1/4 I have gotten was a 14.137 sec.......Someone with a mid-late 90's non ws6T/A auto wants to race me......I heard he has 3.73 gears.....would it be a good race.......I am the better driver


I think i would lose......I told him 1/4 is not the only race.. I said to race me this summer at the small autocross track....I have sway bars and aftermarket brakes...and am good at it.

 

WS6 is just an appearance package. If it's a 93-97 then it's a drivers race with him having the advantage since you don't really have any mods. If it's a 98-02 you're in for an extremly bad time

 

WS-6 is not an appearance package, I had one. It adds upgraded suspension hardware, the ram-air induction (20hp increase for LT1, 15hp increase for LS1), the "high-performance" lower gears (3.42 I think), and Hurst shifter in 6MT cars.

but if its a late 90s firebird, unless its a V6, youd better hope that its a stick, and he doesnt have legs.

 

WS6 does upgrade suspension, but the ram air really dosn't do anything on an efi engine, just for looks. Mabey if you were going 140mph then it would increase hp...

 

i thought that one of the GM guys posted a link that stated that the ram air hood added 1hp at like 100mph+...

 

Well, I didn't meanthe ram-air itself added the hp. WS-6 IS a suspension package, but it goes along w- the ram-air hood, 17x9 wheels, etc. The ram-air induction and diff exhaust account for hp increase over non-WS-6 car. LS1's (and LT1)are highly restricted intake-wise. Upgraded induction (lid, manifold, etc)helps quite a bit on theses cars.

 

Regular T/A's are just as fast as ws6's , the ram air hood doesnt add even close to 15 or 20 hp and all m6 ls1's had 3.42 gears not just ws6's and the automatics had either 2.73's or 3.23's
