Track edicate
If your not running slicks drive around the water, street tires don't need a huge burnout. If you spin hard on a luanch don't do a 1/8th mile burnout. Before you run watch a few cars go down the track and don't be afraid to ask a track offical if you need some help on somthing or are not sure what to do.
That about sums it up. Also, don't wait for the green light on the tree to go; instead, go on the last amber. This will give you a better reaction time, although that doesn't have anything to do with your ET since the timer doesn't start until you move.
As far as edicate. They will probably be several staging lanes. Pick a lane and stay in it. Some guys try to hop lanes so they can get more runs in but that just pisses people off and sometimes gets you thrown to the back of the line.

Its pretty much been summed up already. What sinister said only applies if you want a good reaction time. I wouldnt worry about that if its your first time at the track. Take your time and get the launches down pat first. Your reaction time doesnt effect your et but F'ing up the launch does.
You will be excited and nervous for your first few runs. Don't go ***** out your first few times. Try to learn the track, how they have you stage, finding the house to get your time slip, getting back in line and don't be afraid to ask questions.
Most importantly, have fun.

Learn where the exits are at the end of the track.. nothing worse than having to wait for someone to back up because they didnt realise there were more than one spots to turn off... (its different at every track).
