BMW 540i
I see a lot of BMW stories here so I thought I would share my own recent encounter. I was driving home from work on westbound 40/64 a couple of days ago and when getting on the ramp for southbound 141 this BMW fills my rearview and ridesmy ***. I am not driving slow mind you, actually a little fast for this ramp. When we hit the big curve I figured I would go into it kinda hard and probably lose him but he followed suit and stuck right on me. At the end of the curve is a big long straightaway with a 50 mph speed limit so I figured I would just smoke him there. At the start of the straightaway I moved to the left one lane and romped on the gas, expecting to walk this guy's *** as is usually the case when I give Ellis a little workout. I look in my side mirror a fewseconds later and to my surprise the Beemer is about at my door![:-] This is kinda rare for me so I was impressed. Eventually I put a coupla cars on him before shutting down but it took a little longer than expected. He flew by with no honk, wave, thumbs up, or even a glance over. He's probably not used to being shown up like that, especially in the snooty area we were in (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, etc). The back said "540i." Well just today I was reading my new Motor Trend and it had a write-up of the 5-series. The 540i had a 4.4L V8 that was rated at either 282 or 290, depending on the year. Not too shabby, my LS1 is rated at 310 so that's pretty close, explaining the closeness of the race. I am now kinda proud of Ellis for taking out a decently fast and well-engineered German performance sedan. Thank you to those who made it through this novel.
hah! yeah, BMW drivers are the worste here. even when it's a 3 series, they think they're better than you just because they own one. i usually hit the break a bit to get people off my ***. BMW owners don't fall for that the first time usually. then i actually stomp it, then i get them to flash their brights at me, either night or day. then i slow down even more. they're gonna be a pirck, i'm gonna be a *****. then they try and pass me and i stomp the gas.
I can't believe anyone in a 3-series would even bother to be humiliated like that. At least the 540i has enough ***** to take out the vast majority of cars on the road, but a 323i? Sheesh.
BTW, shutting down the flyby is always my favorite part![sm=smiley15.gif]

Remeber, an M3 is still considered a 3 series
and only LS6s can beat it.
You'll be okay though, as long as you stay away from the Ms.
Are you stock btw? 'cause modded it'll be a different story. BMWs are engineered to the limit at the factory and nothing short of forced induction would give any substantial hp gain.
Bolt ons only would probably let you run close to M5s on the highway, and beat one from a dead stop.
Watch out for the new M5s though. They'll slaughter even a Z06 on the top end!

I am stock except for an aftermarket airbox lid, not much of a gain at all. I don't have a lot of knowledge about or any experience with the M cars but from what I understand the M3 is about equal to an LS1 fbod or Mustang Mach 1 and the M5 is just totally badass.
