Yea stock clutch - hehe crazy huh! I was hoping it'd last until I was ready to pull the motor and buid it. Im getting greedy I suppose. The clutch holds fine on Nitto 17" drag radials to the tune of a few 1.7x 60's - in 2nd the tires break loose but in 3rd and 4th I can't even bark the tires at the strip when the tires are warm (I could bark 4th back when I had 120rwhp less). Got 3.73's in by the way, had 4.10's but had to drop down to keep the rev's at 6k through the traps. I've only got 380 ft lbs of torque, thats less than a stock 4.6 nitrous car with a 100 shot - so hopefully that lower tq will help keep my clutch going. 54k miles and going strong
If you've only got 3.73's, I'd probably launch that thing closer to 5-5500. I thought you had the 4.10's. Like I said, you're gonna have to try it a couple of times to see what works well.
be careful, a local guy with a 125 shot of nitrous put slicks on his 2004 gt and killed the rear end on the second run [&:] He said he was launching at 5k when it happened
my 83 gt got 31 splines i lauch at 6000rpms with just a little spin..1.57 60ft ..with 11.50x27x15 hoosiers with stiff side wall so dont flaten to rim on take off i run 10psi...make sure they have lots of smoke coming off of them ,,my new tires took about 3 runs to break in good...good luck!
