I have all of the respect in the world for bmws. My uncle has a 98 m3 and recently put on the supercharger, full exhaust, and computer chip, and its pushing 400 hp, by far the quickest car ive ever been in. How do the 335s stack up compaired to the m's
If your talkin E46(i think)M3, the one with 333HP, I think the M will still take it. The M is rated at a little less torque, but it should still pull harder top end.
to clear this up, the 335i is twin turbocharged. Also, im 99% positive that the 335 will take the M. The reason the M is being redesigned for 2008 is becuase the 335 is currently faster than the e46 m3. The 2008 M should be faster though

Eh I dunno. The reason you give for redesigning the M makes sense if this wasthe case, but I really don't see myself only losing by a car in third gear @ 80 to an M3.

DUH!

the new M3 is packing a 4.0 V8 that packs 420 BHP and makes a ton of torque way down low while reving up to 8,300RPM's

not to mention the whole assembled block weighs around 200lbs

I wouldn't say it makes a ton of torque... it only makes 288 ft lbs. Thetorque curve itselfshould make it very fun to drive though.
"Derived from the potent 5.0L V10 engine used in the larger M5 and M6, the new V8 unit will displace 4.0L and produce its peak 420hp output at a lofty 8,300rpm, while maximum torque is 400Nm at 6,500rpm. Though this latter figure might not seem impressive, 85% of twist will come from just 2,000rpm. Yes that’s right. Thanks to the Double Vanos valve technology, the new V8 engine delivers up to 340Nm of torque from only 2,000rpm. This means the new bahn-stormer will have an almost perfectly flat torque curve and a smooth power band stretching more than 6,000rpm. Because of the use of aluminum and composite materials in its construction, the mighty motor weighs in at just 202kg. Amazingly, this is 15kg less than the 6-cylinder engine found in the previous M3."

The engine is definitelya technological achievement, but this car will struggle to keep up with even the current base Corvettes in acceleration.

i'd take a z06 over a M6 or any other black mans wish..any day of the week, bmw is probably one of the most over rated and overly priced cars ever made, christ if you put a kb on a termi you would makeMs cry their eyes out that they bought that german pos and you would have had money left overtobuy that guya few tons of tissues...if german engineering is so great than how come they can't get to space and have obsolete military technology??, if america is superior in all other terms of engineering then why wouldn't we be superior in automotive as well?? America vs. Germany in anything...America FTW, except for high unemployment, they have us in that one, poor americans have to sit here with our low employment rate and high gdp, i guess germany is so much better at producing fine automobiles

lol nice biased view there... whatever floats your boat man

you ever think someone wouldn't like the limited space of a mustang ::gasp!::

or maybe someone wanted luxury and a good ride instead of going as fast as a NASA space shuttle ::GASP!::

If a C6 Z06 that runs mid 11's, a ford GT that runs mid 11's a high 12'scaddy XLR-V, and a 08 V8 M3that runs 12's...

it would be between the M3 and the XLR.. sorry the world doesn't revolve around ricky bobbies dreamsin some peoples minds...

and go ahead and cry about high unemployment... it's redneck excuses like that I laugh at... there are plenty of jobs, you just have to apply yourself.
you can't sit on your couch an expect a job to fly out of your microwave and hit you in the face

Oh yeah, I missed that too hah.... I absolutely love the new Z06 and would love to own one, but if I had a choice between that and a new M5 or M6? C'mon, that's not even a comparison. Luxury >>>>> a few tenths in the quarter. Anyone who's owned even a somewhat luxurious car in their lifetime knows this.
