Default 99 Camaro

I have a friend with a 99 Z28 that wants to race me. He says he's got a LS1, I thought Z28 had the LT1. Anyway he's got a CAI and 3' exhaust. We're both slush boxes, I don't stand a chance do I?

The '98 and newer Camaro's have the LS1 reguardless of model (except the V6). The '97 and previous have the LT1 up to a certain date then they had a 305 I believe. LOL You look at the front end of the camaro and if it has recessed head lights then its a LT1. It the lights are flush with the hood then its a LS1.

Well you have full exhaust. What does he have? Usually a stock LT1 and a stock PI 4.6 are game for each other. All the stock LT1's at my track run low to mid 14's. If he doesnt have FULL exhaust I would say give him a run. Its a drivers race IMO.

But if he is a good driver and in an LS1 then he will probably take you.

He doesn't have headers just mid pipe and mufflers, CAI and a cowl induction hood ( I don't know if that adds any power)

I misread again. I thought you was running an LT1 for some reason.

Unless something weird happens he should win easily. My Z28 has the same engine and transmission as his car and I went 13.52 bone stock. Even with full exhaust I don't imagine your 04 GT will run that fast. But hey, I've made a few 14 second passes because of traction issues so if he's on street tires than anything can happen. Good luck.
