Lancer Question
In my opinion, it's going to be a drivers race. If he doesn't launch the car right, you should be able to take him. But with a good launch, you'll be playing a little catchup. I think the new GT's definatly pull on Evo's because of our sucky awd drive train loss. Practice your launch and you have a good chance of winning. My money is on you considering he probably doesn't know how to launch his car yet.
On average, new Evo owners run high 13's / low 14's. It does take some practice to get mid to low 13's stock.

I say it's a driver's race as well. Anytime two cars are withing a few tenths of each other with pro driving, it's a driver's race in the hands of the Joe Blows. Practice you launch as much as you can. Also, getting a pair of d/r's will help offset some of that awd advantage he has.
The evo 9 is pretty fast, low 13's high 12's at times, the 8 was more of a mid 13, if they're running anything above a mid 13 they either cant drive or da is up there..should take a stock gt, but drivers have a lot to do with it

what are you smoking? and did u know 6 cylinders can run high 13's? I live in riceville, IL and on any given night at the streets theres atleast 10 evos, and the track as well. I have never seen an evo run a 12 stock in my life, sure they launch good, but their power is peaky and the torque band isnt very good. Maybe the RS can run low to 13 even...but those cars still have 28X hp at the flywheelat like 99,000 rpm and weigh 3300 or so, theyre not exactly light for 4 bangers. The reason theyre so fast is cuz of the peak power and cuz of the gear ratio. Im pretty sure evos are at like 4.8 or 4.9:1 STOCK. Thats what motor trend said it was anyway

example.. last year we went to a show that was mostly imports.. and before they started braket, they had the course open.. and a guy in an evo was hot lapping it. He kept pulling 15 after 15 after 15.. probably 5 time he ran and couldnt get out of the 15's.
We saw a guy come up to him and talk for a few min.. think he was telling him how to launch the car.. next run out he pulled a low 13... and he did it quite a few times in a row after that.
Those cars HAVE to be launched high... as in if you do a safe launch (4000 rpm or less) they run like crap.. if you do a correct launch for that car (6000+rpm launch) they can turn some incredible times.
There was a reason Mitsu was out canceling warrantys of any evo's that they found at tracks a while back.. sooo many people have snaped input shafts on the transmissions that they had almost no other choice. They cant take many launches like that.. they werent built as a drag car.
