Launching 5-speed
I'm about to race my 06 GT tonight. it's mostly stock, and it's a 5-speed. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the best way to launch it. i've ran it once before and revved it to 2000 and dumped the clutch, i ran a 9.1 in the 1/8th (there's no 1/4 strips near me). i'm pretty sure i could get it into mid to high 8's cause i spun off the line and spun through every gear. if it helps i have 235/45/18 tires all around (stock bfg's) thanks!

Raise your front tire pressure to 35-40lbs & lower the rear tires to 20-25lbs.This will help weight transfer. Also pull your tire & jack out of the trunk along with everything else in there. It will only take 5min to do.Lastly run your car with an 1/8th tank of gas. This will optimize weight savings!Launch your car around 1800 rpms with the radials and tire pressure set to where I told you.It should be about right.Let us know how ya did!
ok, thanks for the advice. i already planned on running it on 1/8th of a tank. i gotta 1/4 now and by the time i get there i should be at an 1/8th. and also thanks for letting me know the tire pressures, i forgot to mention i was lowering the rears. i'm planning on doing about 3 runs or so, i'll post the details of my run: 1/8th time, 60', r/t (i'm still working on it, last time was .20, pretty good i think for my 1st launch in the car), etc. hopefully ya'll can give me more tips after seeing the times. thanks again : )
