Finally got to run a 05 GT saterday night, even though it wasnt much of a acutal race.

Was crusing down broadway of my hometown when we (friend and me) notice a 05 in the other lane, with a car infront of it. As we go by I gave em a little bark from the exaust, but I noticed it was a older lady and her child, so I though nothing of it. Suddely in the rearview I see her swerve around the car infront of her and come up beside me (lol, that was quite a suprise, she had to be 40 at least, unless I got a bad look)

Anyways, she was rolled by without getting on it, until her back bumper was about 4 feet infront of mine, then I see the exaust go crazy (its COLD here). We punch it from about 2900 RPM. From 2900 to about 3500 or so we managed to stop her from pulling (she did get the jump). From there on it was goodbye 05 GT. At the top of 3rd I probably had at least 1 1/2 cars on her.

Not sure if it was a auto or 5 speed, but it seemed pretty quick for being dead stock (I am assuming here, but its a pretty safe assumption). Until I got into the cams powerband she was at least managing to keep up.

BTW sorry I suck at telling these storys, im much better in real life when I can use my hands to demonstrate

could a 05GT beat a stock 99-04GT? cuz the run about the same 1/4 mil time and even though the 05 has 300hp and the 99+ has 260 the 05 is much heavier.

 

someone correct me if i am wrong please

but so far , from waht ive read, which is almost every tested magizine yet,
an 05 GT does 0-60 in 5.1 vs 5.4-5.5 for the 99-04


but good god, even if its just that bit of a difference, 300 hp for under 26K?
makes me shiver, and wish i wasnt going to college

 

Yeah...I seen one at my track and asked the guy if he would run me once. Well he ran a few times and never even come close to a 13 so I was like What a waste of time! LOL

 

Of course the 05's are faster than the 99-04's

That's like saying the Fox Notchbacks are faster than the 99+ GT's Because of Weight.
When theres a bigger difference between those two cars and less of an HP difference.

 

Dont the 05Gts do 14.1 @ the track & dont the 99+ do 14.2 or so?

 

My best stock time in 95-100 degree weather with a DA of like 4000 ft was something like a 14.3.
