New Best at Track
So they let me do test and tune today and here is how it went.
1st Run:
My worst. Forgot to turn on my bottle warmer. Did big burnout with BFG DR's and here are the results:
Reaction .03989
60' 2.21
1/8 et 8.79
1/8 mph 85.71
1/4et 13.34
1/4 mph 109.05 The car didn't seem to pull very hard at all on this run.
2nd Run: Bottle warmer on. For whatever reason my car launches much better with a short burn out with just a little bit of smoke coming off the tires. So that's what I did andI was rewarded with a better run.
Reaction .13467
60' 1.883
1/8 mph 87.46
1/8 et 8.25661
1/4 mph 109.10
1/4 et 12.81151
3rd run. Car got to sit for about 30 minutes with hood open and bottle warmer cycling off and on as needed. Tire pressure adjustment (17 psi) and tighten the purge line as it was leaking. Short burn out.
Reaction .38131
60' 1.817
1/8 mph 88.26
1/8 et 8.01
1/4 mph 111.25
1/4 et 12.46
When I launched my last run I felt the wheels hopping and thought the run was shot. I shifted real good and it fellt like another high 12 second run but not 12.46. My wife was jumping up and down at the start finish line and I knew it was better than my previous. So I called it a day after thatbecause the test and tune session was over and they started to do the bracket racing.
I thinktwo of the reasons my times have been getting better is #1 experience and #2 my tires are still breaking in. I only have 6 runs on these DR's and they seem to get better and better.
Next time I'll take some things out of the car to reduce weight and not go with a half tank of fuel.
For those of you who hate cleaning the burnt rubber off your quarter panels after the racing, buy some of the wide masking tape at the auto parts store and mask it on. Much easier than washing it off.
06 GT M5 with some bolt ons and a 75 shot.

if i may..i have an even better fix for the burnout rubber on the rear quarters (and i race a white car). I spray generic cooking spray around the area behind the wheels, and when im done racing, the rubber and cooking spray just wipes off. ive also seen some guys cover it with wax.
nice times..what tires are you running, and are you full street weight?

Full street weight ( I don't know what it is) with BFG DRs 265/40/18's. I know the 17's would have been better butI got a deal on matching set so vanity won over practicality. Cooking spray sounds good too.
I was trying to calcualte air density and it's at 2088.xxx here today. Where is there a conversion to see what I "could have done"?

YOU! How could you do this to me? I guess I'm going to have to get some new mods now arg.
One comment though...your launches seem solid (low 1.8s is respectable!), and your trap speeds are good, but I think there might be a tenth or two to be gained in the shifting. Do you powershift?

I'm not and the reason is I'm on the bottle and am A BIG CHICKEN because I'm afraid of grenading the motor or hurting the tranny. Off the bottle I don't have an issue with doing it.
However, in preperation for the next time out, I think I may pull out my Subs (Shaker 1000 box) back seat and passenger seat. That might help. Oh and burn some more fuel off before going. I had 7 gallons in the tank when I got there and only used .8 gallons (3 passes). I figure I could show up with 2-3 gallonsand save some more weight. You think that might do it? I don't know how much that stuff ways but it couldn't hurt?

A 2000 ft DA sucks but you really can't run correction factors on a nitrous run. A big part of the correction is the temperature, and nitrous freezes the intake charge so there really isn't a comparison.
Good run.
