I dunno about a cam, but I just cannot see that car doing what it did to me. I didn't bother to shift into 4th, as it was getting dangerous at the speeds we were at (for that location) but he was starting to pull more on me.

For reference, I ran 12.40@114 on spinning nittos (what I had today).

low 12's high 11's
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure a C5 Z06 won't run a high 11 or anything close to it bone stock... its only 400 flywheel horsepower.

You sure your not thinking of a C6?
I think a stock c5 z06 traps at around 114 stock or so im not sure....im sure mr rogers will chime in

Yea they run in the mid to high 12s and weigh 31xx pounds and around the 345-355rwhp give or take a little
Thats what I was thinking.

Guy has to be bull****ing about being stock. I know that a set of LTs/midpipe/catback can do wonders for the car.

It sounded louder than stock, but it was hard to tell if it had a stock catback, just had the 4 tips (round) but I didn't get to look over the car or anything.

I ended up talking to him at a line at a bank teller window, I shoulda got out and looked under the car lol.
The C5 Z06 properly driven can manage 12.2-12.4.With you pushin 420rwhp the raceis a bitabnormal but not surprising..I think the C5 Z06 had a great performance for it's time and still does when you think about it. The LS6 is underated though...

A guy namede Ranger has drivin a bone stockC5 ZO6 to a very high 11, this is not the norm. In the hands ofa compitent driver they are a low-mid 12 car. They have a bigger cam and better flowing heads than a regular C5, also they are lighter. The cat back and mufflers are titainum, they are fixed roof cars, which saves some weight.

I just think the OP ran into someone that knows how to drive his Zvery well....You get many ppl claiming wins on Vettes and I could say at least half those encounters are by posers that can drive their Vettes to begin with...

Well, if they run low 12s then its pretty much dead on. I spun some in first (I didn't at the track) and spun lots in 2nd (I did at the track) and ran a 12.40, so I guess it sounds dead on.

I need some weight reduction and a shortblock, gonna have to start a fake charity or something.

BARELY losing to a well driven C5Z in a modified New Edge (and you were spinning at that) ain't to shabby in my book!!! Respectable death...

I just wish I had had the MT ETs on there... story would have been different with a 3500 RPM launch

Oh well, next time I guess.

Yes, you are wrong.
Steve Bauer drove a bone stock 2004 Z06 to an 11.9 @ 118 while doing a story for GN High Tech Performance. The air was cool and he knows how to drive.

11.8 @ 118mph from a bone stock 03... Saw it with my own eyes at US41 in Indiana...
