Default SRT-8 charger...

Finally got to run one high speed...
Yes, high speed. On one of the best secluded straightaways in the county around here. (back country, no houses, and a smooooooth road )
I know some will call me an idiot for going that fast...lol

Ended up just finding it cruising home, and from a 70 roll, and starting at his rear bumper (1 length back) I ended up 1.5 lengths ahead at ~130, then hit 5th, and teh guy goes flying by...either our 5th sucks ***** that bad, or he had nitrous...idk which.

His face was funny to see though, as well as his girlfriends. He did kinda snicker at 130 before he passed...so thats why I was thinking nitrous...

How about yall?

I thought the SRT-8 had the 6.0L hemi, not the 5.7 and made some serious power. Not sure on that...

Mine wouldn't pull much in 5th past 130 when I was stock and at 5000 ft. elevation. Definately pulls past 140 now with the s/c!

Yea...the engine makes power...but the Dodges have a major problem with putting that power to the ground...being an automatic, they lose ALOT of power through the drivetrain...and then they have very weak gearing, so they seem to "bog" a little bit each shift...

They make alot of power, and to the average consumer, they are very appealing with 425HP...but in reality, they cant put it to the ground...

They are mid 13's cars stock...you should be able to run them all day long if your modded...

the 300C SRT8 is a different story...for some reason, they are much faster...but the magnum and charger...not to much...

They do lose a lot of power through the drivetrain. Go to chargerforums.com and there is a recent post about dyno numbers. I wondered why they didn't buy drag radials for the track and it seems there's a good chance they will break their half shafts with DR's. Sucks to be them.

I don't see the point in racing past 4th gear. There's a reason why there aren't any 1 mile drag strips.

You should have handily won the race if you truly have 340rwhp and gearing...or at least have been so far ahead by 130 that he wouldn't catch you. They are nasty up high...but 30hp won't nearly make up for 500lbs and gearing...

well the 300c is the heaviest of the 3 so im not sure why u think that,

if you actual know how to drive the car (leave it in drive) they can run a 13 flat

5th gear absolutly kills your torque, and the 6.1L makes gobs of it so im guessing that he just used that to pass you, not nitrous

Take it from an SRT8 owner. The Magnum, 300, and Charger all run about the same times. The Magnum is generally a tenth or two slower than the Charger and 300 SRT8's. Checkthe SRT8 sites or youtube if you like.
