Death tonight
Not to me though; I was on the way back from a meet and saw a '96 GT. I don't know what he had done besides exhaust [if anything]. I rolled by him and blew off a little. He was getting up to speed on the highway and got beside me...he slowed down to 40 and I matched him. I had it in 3rd and when he honked the first time I put it in 2nd. 3rd honk...you know the drill...top of 3rd I had 3-4 cars and let off..
Nothing special...but it was the first time since owning this car I've ran a stang...even it was a 96 instead of 00-04 or newer

I was never really impressed with the SN95's, even back in the day. When they first came out the "new" SN95 Mustangs seemed like a major(at least cosmetically)change but they didn't seem any faster. And when Ford first switched to the 4.6L that didn't seem like much of an improvement either. That little mod engine has come a long way in the past 10 years or so, a factory GT of today has about 40% more power from the same engine(sorta)than it did 10 years ago. Kinda makes you wonder what the 5.0 would have ended up being if Ford had continued development...better heads etc. GM's new LS family is still pushrod but is obviously far more developed than the small blocks of yesteryear, and not nearly as radical a departure from their predecessors as the Mod family isfrom the Windsor family

Imagine if the 5.0's had a head like AFR 165's or TFS TW's etc from the factory, with a better cam....they'd be more powerful than the 4.6 is right now(and a lot easier to work on!!). I just hope Ford develops the Mod family to it's potential before they decide to start building another engine family. I feel like the poor little Windsor got left behind right at the time it was starting to show some real potential

I guess it really was too much to ask for Ford to actually make the SN95s performance worthy............considering it took a letter writing campaign by Mustang enthusiasts to keep Ford from turning the car into a FWD V6 only model.[&:]
Ford may have kept the pony breed pure back in 94.......but they didn't exactly put too much effort into it either it would seem.
