The Mustang GT would still probably edge you out barely.

id have to see that to believe it. i had a rental with the 3.5L engine last week, and i was amazed at how well the big car moved out..a guy at another forum of mine, with just a CAI, ran 15.40s...not blistering fast by any means, but for a heavy *** sedan (and i got like 28mpg) it ran pretty well.

While im not trying to create any sort of pissing match, as I have seen first hand how fast the new sixers can be, the modifications cant be cheap, and when you guys have these 500hp V6s, the engine is more stressed, so i would have to think that a 500hp GT500 would likely have a longer life than a 500hp 4.0L, and the average person, to build a 500hp 4.0L would end up having as much tied up as does someone who gets a GT500 for MSRP....again, I dont know how much it costs to build a 500hp 4.0L as i havent done it, but ive built motors and its not cheap to make that kind of power, especially with a smaller engine.

there is only one guy here that has had to run a built block and that is rygen cause the dealership put in injector cleaner or something and it dropped the octane to the point of him getting tons of knock and blew a few pistons. It's very true that a stock gt500 is gonna last longer though, obviously due to less stress and a rotating assembly built to handle it, but the 4.0 is an extremely strong engine in stock form for what it is and there are people here, such as fazm and buckman running MUCH faster than stock gt's or even quicker than gt500's (buckman is faster by a long shot) on their daily driven sixers with no engine problems.
