Focus SVT
Hi all new here but not new to Stangs or message boards.
At any rate one night last week on the way home had a Focus SVT pull up next to me on the interstate, so at around an 80mph roll we got on it. Before we took off I could hear his turbo spooling so thought there could be trouble. When we took off he was slightly ahead and we stayed even but then I started pulling on him......until we saw flashing lights ahead of us on the shoulder with someone pulled over. Luckily he didn't notice us and I count that one as a win since I was pulling ahead about a car lenght when we shut 'em down.
What led me to post was that the other day for fun I thought I'd scope out a Focus message board to see what these guys have under the hood and what they are capable of. Thats when I found out the fastest known Focus runs mid 12's, found that out somewhere else. Keep that in mind, because I wandered into their FI section and there was a thread about what can you beat. The guy on there with the most claimed HP says he has "357.6WHP and an estimated 380WTQ". Almost everyone on there claims to beat all kinds of cars like Mustang GT's, Camaro's, BMW's, etc. Most of them on there, even with FI still claim at best just over 200WHP with most around 170-180. The guy with the 357.6WHP claims to kill all kinds of Vettes, Mustangs and BMW M3's. I just about fel on the floor rolling in laughter at these guys. I know these cars can be made fast and this guy could kill my car with that power but to claim to kill a 2007 Vette is ludicrous. He also says he has only put $11K into the car. What he doesn't realize is that with a Stang $11K can put you in the 400-500hp range with ease along with various other handling and rear end upgrades.
Just thought I'd share. BTW, my car has a Flowmaster cat as its only mod.

But yea, in stock form, they're pretty sluggish. My friend had one and I think he said they went HIGH 15's? Maybe worse.. I don't recall.
Making the whole argument about how much money they spend, vs how much you could spend though, leave that to the ricers. It won't get you anywhere in life.

I have to agree with the people before.
1) the money comparison is way off, because a focus with 11 grand in it, is still cheaper than a new stock GT
2) Any car can be made fast...just because it's a focus doesn't mean it can't beat a Corvette.
3) buy the car you want because you like it, not because you think it's the fastest for the money. there is always someone faster. A guy can mod a Civic enough to beat a Ferrari....but at the end of the day, he's still driving a Civic!
4) keep the racing on the track

You almost sound suprised that a Hopped up sport compact could lay a beating on you. 360 to the wheels is plenty to kill Vettes in a light car like that. And your 11 grand comparo is pretty lame considering a GT cost about 10 grand more than a focus from jump, and has almost double the HP to start with .

Seeing as this guy was comparing a $25K Focus I think its very legit to compare my 2003 car that I bought for $15K. If I put $10K into it I would have spent the same money and have a far faster car.

That is insanely crazy. You will come to realize that most of us rather race at a track, but most of us either live too far away to drive on a weekly basis and some of us work on days the drag strip is open. And will also realize that 80% of the racing posts are gonna be street racing.

No I'm not suprised because of the fact that I said I thought I could be in trouble when I heard the turbo spooling.
