Went to my first auto cross yesterday, most fun I've probably ever had in my car. My best time on the track was a 55.52 at the end, the guy in the silver slowbaru's best was a 54.8 and this is his second year doing it. I didn't do so bad for being on really crappy tires
Fastlane's best was in the neighborhood of 60 seconds, not sure. It was sponsored by the west michigan miata club, and one of the miata guys brought these almost miniature slicks, his car looked like a go-kart, but was fast. There was also an impala with a supercharged (roots/twin screw) LS6, loud and fast.
Had a friend take some video, didn't get any till the end and I only got 5 passes on the track for the night, first was 69 seconds, then 60, then I kept shaving seconds down to my final time. Here's a link.

Well, it's a little tougher to just jump into road course racing... that's what I wanted to do, and will do eventually. The auto cross was slightly frustrating because I never really got to leave first gear on this track (it was designed with that gokart miata in mind [&:]) but it was still worlds more fun than drag racing.

Yeah, I hate auto x.. its basically 1st, 2nd, slow down, turn, 1st, slow down, turn. lol. & my car does nothing but spin those 2 gears, helps out with knocking over cones lol

I think I only killed two cones, I did well for my first time out. With my crappy tires I was spinning a bunch too, at the end of the first run on the video I went WOT at the end and it just jumped up to 5800-6000 rpm and I let off the gas to keep away from the rev limiter, no traction. First run of the day I left the traction control on and the damn light was on the whole time [&:]
