Default 3rd gen maro mini race

coming back from work tonight I hear a gassy rumble (no too heavy of a lope, but def a modded V8)

it's some kind of red third gen with black Z28's on the side skirts.... don't know much about the engines these cars came with but it sounded rather mean...

anywho, I know he was modded a bit, at leastexhaust...

so I look over and see that he's in a lane that ends like2,000 feet ahead.... and seeing how he was creeping I knew what he was thinking, when the light turned green I launched straight out of the hole and instantly put a half a car on him, after that he inched backto losing by a1/4 lengthto 70-80MPH

I'm pretty sure it wasa modded5.7L Z28 package, almost positive it was a manual too... my luxury shifts were his gaining moments.

after that he had to slow down and merge in behind me... I thought he was going to ride my *** and try a flyby, but he stayed a good 3 car lengths back... I stuck my hand out to wave him up so I could try him from a roll but he diddn't budge from back there

bone stock 3,900lbs 3.9L V8 > modded 3,200lbs 5.7L V8

nah judging by how he kept up and how my carcould swing mid-high 14's I'm going to assume it was a basic bolt on L98 car

the LB9 just lacked the umph to go hood to hood with me IMO

and scg, send that PM... I never got it

dude a slightly modded 350 tpi would have walked you. you ran accross a 305/350 tbi or a 305 tpi car

I'm guessing you don't know howquick a03+ LS is... I have some decent kills and deaths under my belt
judging by the timeslips I have been browsing... a lightly modded 350TPI would be a drivers race with my LS bone stock

my runs so far

your reaction is one of the many reasons I bought the car, people just aren't expecting it, but if it was a 305 it would had to have sounded alot meaner than aCAI+catback car to hang like that.. LT's, cams etc etc

I will add with the way he was inching back on me he would have had a 1/4-1/2 car on me through the 1/4 mile... his hood was only slightly inching me through the gears... I definitely need to fix these luxury shifts soon

I had an 87 5.7 lt. Iroc. It was slow. Probably close to a 15.5 or 16 second car stock. I didn't bother to mod it so I dont know how it would have reacted to mods. I'd guess pretty good from the other small block chevys I've built up.

The 5.7's in those cars came with autos only, so it was probably a 5.0 TPI, which is similar to the 5.0 in the Mustangs as far as power output goes (give or take 5-15 HP/TQ).

oh.. as I said before I don't know much about the engines... I never knew there was a 5.0L TPI, all I know is I gave the 5.7L's a look up and they are good for mid-high 14's with a few basicbolt on's and the 5.0L TPI's are good for low 15's to high 14's stock... who knows maybe he was a bit more modded

I def do not believe it was anything TBI though... those car are struggling to leave the 15's with bolt on'sand moddedthey trap what my LS is "supposed" to trap stock... and this car was inching me out ever so slightly
