It's OFFICIAL
One reason they act like that is they get tired of people telling them "I used to have one of these....bla bla bla" Usually this statment is followed by "but mine was 396 Hemi and it ran 9's stock". When I had my Super Bee I had so many people come up to me and just blabing about stuff that they were totally clueless about, so I usually just said thanks and got in it and left. I know that's not what this guy did, but just giving another perspective.

I guess it has to do with the value of their cars moreso than performance....The most snobbiest ppl are rolling restored classics......

I guess you meant older original muscle cars when you said "classics"? Some of the "Rod" guys are pretty snobby.
There is a local rod club here that puts on a fairly large inside show in February. The rod and older muscle car guys have complained a bunch about newer cars being in the showto the point that they turned away a bunch of cars last year including some really awesome rides simply because they were newer than 72. A bunch of guys like me have talked about just not even showing our old cars in their show next year because of these grumpy old farts.I understand they want nice cars, but wouldn't you like to see a TT vette or huge modded 4x4 or the like even if they are newer models?

I don't care. He wasn't even old, probably in his thirties. Most people in older camaro's I see are dicks. I got the thumbs up in my car 2 times yesterday one from an older el camino, nd an old galaxy or something lke thta I smiled and did the same back. I try to compliment nice camaro's and they think they are the ****.

I hear ignorant comments similar to that regarding most any car. I had a guy at a cruise-in tell me his stock, 2 barrel 390 galaxie "just walked away and left a car like that one" as he pointed toa really nice camaro SS that idled through the parking lot bumpin' a huge cam tuneat a recent cruise-in.I just smiled and walked away...
I actually had a guywithhis wife/girlfriend passenger drive in to one of the meets in a weathered but nice-sounding 70 camaro with his 12.20 dial still in the window from the track. They walk by my 85 GT with the windsor/fabbed valve covers and the wife says "that guy put a big-block chevy in that mustang...that explains the window net and roll cage...". I bit my tongue. The guy never corrected his wife/girlfriend. She wasn't trying to insult me. It was obvious she was serious.[&:]
But good point. I guessI just never got that reaction you speak of when showing my 65 vert GT...nobody ever accused it of running 9s and it's mostly (older) women thatget excited aboutthat car.

i guess the point is, people seem to like the conversation, but im just surprised they think they can BS u so bad.
There's a guy w/ a late 60's camaro running 6's in the 1/8th that drives around town with huge slicks on the back and he'll always talk to people who compliment his car. It's probably the loudest streetcar I've ever heard, so plenty of people take notice.
