I was running up to the store and thought I would drive my car (been a week or so) so I was headed up and some sort of buick I think Regal about 99 up it had GS on the back (saw it later) anyway he got on my ***, so I laid back and got on it put 3-4 cars real quick and figured he didn't want none (just giving him a show) anyway I pull over in a lane that opens up and get's right on my ***, we have a good distance in front of me, he gets back over and gets about a bumper behind me, so I say F it and drop it in 2nd and pull about 10-12 cars before I shut down. Know what suprised me that it wasn't more, I know it was a short distance, but I pulled him like I would a 300 hp S197 (did it the other day) so I was like hmmm wonder whats up with my car (LOL) . I slow down and he pulls up next me and and I roll down my window, young kid with a wife beater on with a big smile on his face. Well he pulls up and takes off, then I knew why he was smiling, he had a turbo in his buick,ROTFLMAO. Cool though sound really good.

Some of those Regal GSs came supercharged from the factory; people do mod and race them. I've never heard of a turbo swap though.
The turbocharged Regals from 86-87 can be made into terrors.

 

Yeah those Regal GS can hold their own. They are supercharged and, make about240-260HP and 260-280TQ depending on the year. You can get a smaller blower pulley , K&N FIPK's, MSD coil packs and wires, Hypertech Programmers, shift kits,lower springsand exhaust components. Maybe more, but those are the basic bolt-ons. Comp Cams makes a cam shaft or two for the 3.8 as well. I thinkthe GS is mid 15 second cars stock. The LS cars are the N/A 3.8 making 200HP.

 

Yeah it was a newer one, and was 100% turbo. Probaly putting 300rwhp pretty much looked like a mid to high 13 sec car. The kill was easy, just a little suprised of the fact he had a turbo

My car is putting out 400rwhp at 5100 rpm, so up to 6200 its more like 430-450 mustang dyno rwhp, so it was a mis match but fun none the less

 

arent the later Regals FWD as well? my dad had a 91 with the non S/C 3.8 in it, the thing hauled a$$ and I think it was FWD....

Regal Grand Sport or Regal Grand National or T-Type??? Or even Regal GNX??? ***** out fast car with a few mods(V6 3.8 with a turbo). Buick Regal turbos were out from 84 thru 87. If you beat one then it is a great kill.

The Regal T-Types, Grand Nationals, and GNX's are the 3.8 Turbo RWD cars. Those were sweet cars, the 87 GNX was the top dog andwas rated at~275HP and 360TQ . Of course forced induction motors responds great to some airflow mods. The newer 98+ Regal GSare indeed the FWD Supercharged 3.8, even theN /A 3.8's are great motors.The OP raced one of these, but said it was turboed, but for some reason I am thinking it was a modded S/C car. Op states" I pulled on him like a 300HP S197" I do not disagree, but a modded S/C 3.8 could make ~300HP, and I would think a turbo car would considerably built and be able to do better and probably make the blow off noise.

 

yeah the mid- late 80s Regals were turbo and could be bad ***... .at the time....they ruled the streets...I was there.... and man did I want a Grand National!!!!

 

Well I know for a fact it was Turbo, I do know the difference. It could of been the LS with GS badge. Either way I dont think it was some sort of shocker or even a great kill that a 99+ regal with 4 door got beat by my car. my thinking is why would he change the S/C for a Turbo? More than likely it was the 200 hp LS with the Turbo, which means he is putting down 150-160 rwhp with a turbo added 300-320 rwhp on a 4 door car that weighs more than my pig (lol), where I have atleast 100-140 rwhp on him.

Not even one of my Top 10 kills. I did put 10 cars on him from 40-80 mph, so he wasn't pushing that much hp
