Well tonight im at a stop light then a camaro ss roles up next to me and I started thinking I hope he dosnt want to race cause I dont want to lose lol. Then he starts reving his engine and crap so there was no backing out. I got up on the converter a little then the light turned green and we both were off. I got just about a perfect launch with no spin. He spun a little of first then. Then I hit second and with out having to shift it realy saved me cause we were dead even. He shifted to second realy good but there was still that slight pause that you get with a manual. I hit third then let off cause I was doing 95 by that time I pulled about a car and a half on him. We came to the next stop and he says man you must be pushing some high numbers lol. I told him what I had and I dont think he believed me. I asked him and he said cat back, then I asked him what year and he told me 97.(dont those have the ls1) Right before I left the light I told him O yeah its a auto. You should have seen the look he didnt even believe me rolling away from the light I held both hands in the air as it shifted through the gears lol. Just thought I would share my kill with all you guys.

 

That's awesome man. I hope I can be doing that in a few weeks with my auto. Is your tranny stock?

 

97 = LT1... and get used to beating them... I have about 4 kills on LT1's with my automatic 04 GT with basic bolt on's.. one kill being on the 1/4 mile

in the time I had my GT I havn't gotten beat by one LT1...

 

Damn I was hoping it was a ls1 lol. O well I am still happy I won. That same night I saw a T/A and did a kinda race were you both kinda speed up at the same time but not punch it. And the guy went to shift to second and it had been raining while I was in the movies so the road was went and he go a little sideways so he was afraid to race afterwords. I also race my friend with a 99 tahoe I have that as kill to lol.

 

Nice kill on the LT1. They run about the same times as pi 2v's, but most of them have been beat to hell and cant hit a low 14 to save their life. Wonder why he was so surprised?

 

Not that I've been to the track a ton, (Twice), but I have never seen an LT1 anything even get into the low 14's. (Don't tell me what they run stock, I know...) They're aging and have been beat on.

so take that for what it's worth but I had a good 4-5 car lengths on him because I'm good at catching lights... seems like alot of people around herecan't read the tree that well... I always used to just stomp the gas as soon as the 2nd yellow started to turn off

i wouldnt call LT1's slow. they still keep up with the new mustangs. you gotta remember, the LT1 was developed in 1992. so i wouldnt be bragging too much. its kinda pathetic that the mustangs can barely beat us stock for stock with 15 yr old engine technology.

some lt1's run high 13's stock others run low 14's. really just dpeends on the driver mod and altitude and stuff
