Well I will tell you I raced on awhile ago when all I had on my 06 GT was intake and axlebacks and I pulled 2+cars by 115...It was a Cayman S and I believe the guy was extremely irritated when I let him pull back up next to me he asked me if I had a blower and he didn't believe me that all I had was intake and axlebacks. Must've beat the driver though but still he thought he would've killed me by his attitude.

Anyways, I love the stang because, going by numbers, its a challenger of exotics. I once posted on here stunned around how some 2001 lamborghini was like .4 seconds faster than a stock GT, and that was it.
A stock GT wouldn't have a hope in hell against any Diablo. At worst, the older/weakers ones ran low 4's to 60, 2001 Diablo's could do under 4s. A 2001 Diablo will easily run over a second faster in the 1/4 than a stock GT.

The Cayman is 245hp and the Cayman S is 295hp. But the car weighs less than 3,000lbs. About 2,950lbs actually, so it has about a 500lb weight advantage on the S197, but it also geared more for higher speeds and not setup to be a drag car. That being said, it's basically a driver's race with a slight edge going to the Cayman S stock for stock. Since most Mustang guys(like us) that race stuff have modded cars, and I doubt most guys in a Porsche mod them(if any of them do) then a Mustang GT with a few simple mods should be able to take one in a drag race....just don't race it around a corner or past 140mph, you'll get killed.

Here's one that actually has a few mods and a tune

http://www.dragtimes.com/Porsche-Cay...lip-10754.html

Prety quick for basic mods, but again, it doesn't weigh jack. Hooray for aluminum construction

I guess I had hoped I wouldve made this cayman S driver think "Damn. He spent 35% what I spent on my car and hes just as fast". Didnt happen.... but I tried.
Does anyone else hate reading this in every post about a more expensive car? It's more expensive because it's probably better in almost every way. So you kept up w/ a Porsche.. everything else about his car is better. If you really mean what you wrote, you should've bought a fox body and threw a huge engine in it, because it would stomp you for far less than what you paid for your GT.

No Fear for the Cayman.... [8D]

Actually the S would probably be a good race for me.

That really doesn't make any sense since you are comparing a brand new car price to a Fox body last made in 1993? Adjusted for today's market I bet prices are close. A 1993 GT cost about $20,400 for 240 BHP. He probably paid 26K-28K for 300. Foxes respond to mods well but the modern conviences are lacking not to mention the suspension and possible new tires he may need. And for far less than what a the Porsche owner paid he could upgrade to a blower and NO and spank the Cayman. Also with suspension upgrades all around, brakes and tires the "race" in turns would likely be better than you thought. So I do like reading how Stangs hang with Exotics.
