ORIGINAL: 1975ssnova

Them are some beautiful cars !I would love to drive anyone of them. There was a guy around here that use to run around in a nomad.I dont know what was done with it but it kicked *** on any and everything around.that is saying something for a big heavy carlike that.
No doubt. The 55' is all original steel minus a fiberglass hood so it takes 1600 hp to get that thing down the track in the low 9's. Now the 64' Nova is crazy light and takes a mere 800 hp to do the same job. Power to weight is another important factor (like tire height) that many overlook.

Yep ,I am in the market for some taller slicks myself. I am running out of gear on the big end and dont know if it would help to shift into overdrive or not.I am going to try it next outing though.

DO NOT use OD at the track. OD under WOT hard = bad things. You can seriously smoke your trans that way. Especially if you have a manual valve body OD.

My advice is to wait for the taller tires and gear. I had 4.10's with a 28" tire and was running out at the 1000'. I made the switch to a 3.73 and now I'm right on the mark through the traps. Depnding on how off you are, the taller tires alone may be all you need. I think tires can make up to 200'.

Yea i am not sure on that , But it would be an expensive fix if it does smoke it.There are some guys on the turbo buick site i am on that shift into OD.I think i will wait for the tires.I have 3.73"s but i am running out around the 1000 foot mark also or maybe even before that.
