What A Night
So yesterday I was kind of running late to work, so was stepping on it a little more often than I usually do. Usually cars mistake me driving normally for WOT because the LMIIs are so damned loud. Well, I pull onto the highway, the 198, and start heading towards downtown (which I have to take the 33 for, which is off of the 198). But there is a light right before the merge onto the 33.
I JUST miss the light, and got pretty pissed, until I saw what pulled up next to me. Actually, I HEARD it. Wasn't really paying attention, and was putting a new song from my ipod on, when something SCREAMED next to me on the right. I look over, and my chin dropped.
A ****ing Ford GT. Very clean looking black one, with an older guy driving it. This is only the second GT I've ever seen, let alone right next to me. He revs again, just kind of looking at me. Looked around the checked the radar, everything looked clear.
I knew I had no chance in sweet holy hell, especially since I'm still getting used to driving a stick, but figured how many times could I race a supercar? I rev back and gave him the thumbs up, which he smiled at.
Light turned green.
I actually didn't do too bad of a job launching I thought, didn't really spin at all and quickly shifted to 2nd gear, looked in the rearview, and didn't see him. He was in my blind spot. Soon as my 2nd gear starting climbing up my tach though, he EXPLODED down the highway. I lost track of him for a good 25 seconds, until I find him down the 33 in the middle lane. Passed him on the left lane, and we exchanged thumbs up with my heart still pounding.
Then, on the way home, pulling out of work, I spark the interest of Carrera (looked like a newer one), with a younger guy driving it, who gave me a peace sign which I gave right back. I pulled up next to him, and he was cool as hell (theres a light right before getting back on the other way of the 33). He said he owned mustangs 7 years of his life, but finally got his dream car, the Carrera. We didn't really formally acknowledge a race, but we both nailed it as soon as the light turned green up the ramp.
Still got raped, but nowhere NEAR what the GT did to me. He got off before I could catch up to him, but was kind of proud that these two cars would even waste their gas on me, and was ESPECIALLY glad that both guys were cool as hell.
Tell ya something though, never would have happened in the sixxer
