I wish people would stop saying this. The LS1,LS2 motors are the same whether they were in a Vette, F body or GTO. The only "Vette motors" are the LS7, LS6 and for now the LS3. Just beacuse it came in a Vette does'nt really mean it's anyhing special.

I looked it up. Silverado SS. 6L AWD. There still Mid 13s to 14 seconds stock. It don't take much modding to get them to be relly quick. AWD Makes a huge Difference. I haven't been into Chevy Trucks sense they Screwed me on my 96!! Haven't owned one sense 01, I've got better things to do then either have my truck worked on or work onit myself. That's why I now drive Fords.

Just sold mine. Had a 04 silverado SS. It had a 6.0 vortec, AWD. 4.10s. It launched good after that fell on it's face. It was not impressive at all. Fast for a truck I guess.

It probably had a convertor, intake, electric fans (delete the one on the front of the motor), tuned, and exhaust. Thats all it take to get them to run low 13's. I have the 2 wheel drive Trailblazer SS with the 6.0 LS2 with just a Superchips program and I would expect to dip into the 13's with just that ...

Speaking as somsone who has a business that specialized in GM tuning and performance,a few things that I've noticed that are wrong info in this thread.

The Chevy SS uses the LQ9 6.0 (which is a 368 CI motor) which is rated at345/380 at the crank. It is very similiar to the LS2 with the main differences being the intake. The standard 6.0 Vortec (LQ4 build code, rated 325 hp) is the motor they use as an option in the Non-SS 2500 seriestrucks and maybe the 1500's... tho I have never seen one. Most guys who want a work truck with that much power go deisel for the extra torque. The 345/380 rating in the SS's tho, is a sore understatement. I'd say its closer to wheel hp and not crank. Pre-06 trucks had all wheel drive, with 2wd being an option, both of which had4.10's from the factory.From the headlight in that pic and his 60' times, I would say its likelyan 05.

Also, no offense to the OP... but half a second is not barely being beaten. From the numbers you posted and my experience with these things, he took ya from the dig, had about 1/2 a car at the 1/8th and kept pulling away till about the 1000' markor so,whenhis top end ran out due to the 6000 truck he was pushing...Tho I will say that this guy had some serious work to done. They are low 15's/high 14'sfrom the factory from what I have seen. They respond VERY well to basic mods and headwork and cams get you more HP/dollar than just about anything... If you didn't hear a turbo, then most likely he was spraying ya. I've seen them take a 200 shot for 100+ runs on a stock shortblock with out even blinking...

Well if you did not like getting beat by him then you better also stay away from some of the SuperDutys, And any other truck with a diesel. I'd be willing to bet he had soem type of power adder

so far... the LS6 the first model CTS-V uses... the newer CTS-V is getting the LS7 to compete with BMW M class... so far the only "vette motor" I know of the the LS3, which they will use elsewhere for sure and the LT5 in the ZR-1
