How much power can the 3 valves hold. I know the owner of LS1Tech bought a S197 and put a STS kit on it. It made 440rwhp then the motor gave way. They pulled off the turbo, returned it to stock and took it back to the dealship where he got a new motor covered by the warrenty[8D]

$400 is cheap for install IMO... congrats..... go and get a custom dyno tune first chance u get.

 

wow 3V is awesome, thats agreat gain. i made 340rwhp and 380tq with my vortech at 8psi on stock exhaust. i have a plenum, 90mm maf and afm powerpipe. don't think the maf and pipe do much where i'm at now though. have a kick *** time, you will love life with a blower.

 

There's no concrete numbers for where the new 4.6 3V will give out. The general consensus is that 450rwhp and 8psi boost is the safe limit. But really, it all depends on the tuning. With the right tuning, many S197 owners have gone 500+rwhp on the stock motor with no problems. Others have blown up at just 400rwhp. The rods are the main culprit. I've yet to here of a stock crank or block failure at any power level in these cars......the rods are the weak link.

Problem is that alot of guys go for everything they can get with their custom tunes.......and they cross into the danger zone. A solid tune , sufficient intercooling, and proper fuel supply and the one can see anywhere from 430-500rwhp on the stock motor. I'm only pushing a bit over 5psi max boost, and I'm making roughly 405-410rwhp. I do have plans to go up to the 8 lb pulley sometime in the next year......but that's as far as I plan to go without some forged rods.

thats great. you will love to be blown. about $400 install. it sounds about right to me. not everybody are dealers or rip off shops. Hans at deansperformance.com charges 250 for supercharger installation ( to 03/04 cobras)
