Was a nice night for a race so I thought I'd go out cruising, see if anyone was out. After about 40 minutes of driving I was about to give up and go home when I pull up next to a 03 GT stopped at a light. He immediately revs and says "lets go". We're both waiting for the light, second it turns green we both punch it.

We're spinning pretty bad, he catchs traction a hair before me and pulls a little in front. I get traction just after him and pull up evening it up. Throw it into second gear and I pull out about a bumper on him, through second I start a steady pull, put it into third and by the time third was at 85mph I was about a car up on him. We pull over into a gas station to BS a bit and see what each other was running. Nice guy, all he had was a cold air intake and a exhaust as well as a 5 speed.

Honestly, I don't see how I won the race. I thought for sure I was going to get owned but the guy even confirmed that I was pulling from him good and there was no way he was going to catch up. Does this sound about right for my mods or do I have some sort of freak on my hands?

 

If he was stock i'm not surprised you beat him.

 

i think ur 3.73's get most of the credit.

 

That's about right. I believe your car stock has like 215HP & 285lbs/tq whereas an 03 new edge has 260HP & 302 lbs/tq. Nice race!

 

Kool, thanks for the compliments. That was my only thought too was the 373s. He said his had 327s in it from the factory. Was a really nice race though, the best I've had.

 

ya your car stock is less hp, but an exhaust alone on a 5.0 can really wake it up, nice race man!

 

Sounds right to me. He was only pushing around 230-240 at the tires and your car should be around 190-195 at the tires. Then factor in your mods and ESPECIALLY your gears and I can see you inching him. Plus he is a HAIR heavier than you IIRC.

There is probably a 20 RWHP difference at most between the two cars. The OPshould be laying down as much, if not more TQ than the 03 and then factor in the 3.73's. That a way to represent the SN95's.
