Hammering the gas = bad. Treat the Brake and Gas pedal like there is an egg under them you dont want to crack. Be smooth and you will get better times next time its not about going as fast as possible and driving it on the edge.

Keep things smooth and precise even if it means going slightly slower and chances are your times will improve with a lot less sideways action. Sideways is fun but it is slower and nailing perfect corners is far more rewarding.
