LS1 crap!!!

The heads do not need to be removed to swap an LS1 camshaft.
And yes, a little over 400 rwhp is fairly common with a big cam and stock heads. But 440? That sounds VERY generous to mebut I won't go so far as to call BS.

If you guys would read the entire thread, you would see that I said that I stand corrected. There is no need to get personal and call me a dumbass. I simply stated that a bolt-on AND cammed ls1 will put you close to 400rwhp.You guys are showing me 393rwhp, 404rwhp, etc. I don't believe I was too far off.It all started with someone saying a bolt-on only Ls1 would make400rwhp. I also called BS on the post stating he made 430rwhp on bolt-ons. He then corrected his statement and said he meant to say 430rwhp on spray. Relax guys, and read all of my posts and who/what I am refering tobefore you come down on me like that.
Chevy VS Ford
this is brothers arguing... can we worry about imports please?
unlike this forum in my town all the domestic cars sit on one side of the lot and all the import kids sit on the other side..
H/C/I LS1 = something to fear
Pulley'ed Cobra = somethng LS1 guys see in nightmares
we all get along very well and party together, Chevy perfected what ford invented
but heres what we all agree on... THERES NO REPLACMENT FOR DISPLACMENT
however the 5.4L DOHC Ford v8 dose make more power then the LS1.. DOHC is better no doubt if ford would stop making iron heavy *** blocks
and dont even let me tell you about the hurricane 5.0L that has something in the ball park of 450hp?
both have ups and downs both good respectable engines
P.S. Termys are car gods
z06 however is a car myth such a car cant exist im shure im dreaming...

I think our members will agree that I know my way around these motors better than most, having worked at two shops that are pretty much LSx only. Yes it is very possible to make 400+ rwhp with a can and bolt ons. I made 393 rwhp (Mustang Dyno) with my TSP 231/237 cam and most bolt ons, if it was a dynojet I would have been over 400 easy. Take your own advice and see what they say over on LS1tech.

Never. I am not under estimating anything. I have been around LS1s more than you know friend. No way in hell is the Ws6 (LS1) you are looking at is putting that to the wheels with a cam. Maybe that is what you were told, but you are in for a disappointment when/if you put it on a Dyno. With heads AND cam-of course, but not cam only!! I am still waiting on someone that knows what they are talking about to chime in.

-With a 224 cam, Budget minded ported LS6 heads, LT's with cats, stock intake, cai, and 2800 coverter, and a good tune I made 406rwhp and went 11.90@114.
These are the kind of numbers I have seen more of, I'm not claiming to know more than anyone, it's just what I've been seeing. Without the heads, I imagine he would be well under 400rwhp.
that's a baby cam making power thru an auto. click on my link then scroll down to were someone state I made more power that his H/C car. search MS4, MS3, t rex, vendicator...high 230s low 240s duration
The tranny maybe where we are having a miscommunication. I have only had auto LS1s and have never witnessed a 6-spd ls1 on the dyno. I know autos drain more power, but I justdidn't think it was that much. Either way, it obivously varies considerably from car to car.
