Another 350z kill

Besides the fact that I do own a Mustang but still spend many hours each day on here should highlight the fact that I do not have much of a life!

I have an opportunity to learn what works for a different chassis, see how it applies to my car (testing) and make some improvements because of that. Expanding your horizons never hurts.
Frankly I don't think I'll ever own a mustang. Ford cheaps out TOO much when they build the car (never thought I'd say it because it sounds elitist, but its true). The Z is leaps and bounds better inside the car - and I'd never write home over its interior design and build quality. I just don't like how many corners are cut on the mustang. Thats fine though - mass market appeal and pricing a car to sell to that mass market are what makes the mustang a success - I'd rather have less compromises so there is less that I'm settling for. Aftermarket can - on any car - close any performance gap. New for new I've found parts prices are much less dependant on the badge the car carries, but the complexity of the part and how many the company can make.
I'm not the type of guy who judges a car by its badge alone - and I appreciate most cars for their strengths while recognizing their weaknesses.
Okay, I seem to have given a different impression than I intended! I was just pokingfun and being sarcastic. I did not mean to offend!
I guess I am not very good at trash talk(the kind you do with friends)and truly don't have a problem with anyone being here who wants to be here.
I did not mean to make unfriendly gestures or offend!
Please accept my apology!

That's me...damn nailed it. I am on my way right now to get rid of this terrible pos and spend more money for less performance right now!!!!

Some of us have broder interest and less narrow views than a whole lot of you guys, while a mass majority of stang owners won't even entertain another vehicles performance/value and really don't care what other cars are capable of (you prefer to assume/make up whatever fits the bill) and typically hate people based on what they drive, others wan't to know what other vehicles are capable of and just get along well with other people in general (no matter what they drive).

Please tell me you didn't actually just think that.[&:]

What amazes me is how many posters (posers) are active on this site that do not have a Stang! Kinda weird unless they are jealous! Why else would they be here?
I don't get it!

as for the mustang cutting corners... meh ill agree, the interiors have never been that amazing, but it caters to a different group... i personally would be content with a seat, and no carpet, so long as the money saved was put into the engine, suspensionor made the car cheaper.im a very basic person andsome people value other parts of the car, which is understandable... my wrangler right now, has no back seats, no carpet, and no power anything (sept steering). the only reason my mustang still has its interior, is because im not going to keep it... need to build a kitcar, which is going to be sheet metal... so yeah, really basic
i think the 350z took on the mustang as its best competition, even tho they are built for 2 very different types of racing... the specs are still close. once the challenger/camaro come out, it may change... but the Z is kind of the jap muscle car. that with the super/skyline IMO.
The Z, at least as far as I can tell from driving one and from Nissan's marketting.
Was meant to be like a mini Vette - not as fast or glamorous, but not as expensive either. To take on the M3 in terms of performance (or a 911 since they run similar numbers) and to try to compete at entry level at least, with an Evo/STi/mustang/GTO/etc. so that it had the appeal of a more "exotic" sports car in style/performance, but the price of a more bargain oriented car - aka a turboed sedan or a good chasis with a big motor and little refinement.
The new motor in 09 should put the Z more in line performance wise, with where it needs to be now, but the fact that they are still selling 30,000 units a year (I believe thats above the initial sales target) and there is still a fan base for the car, shows they are doing something right.
Now - I'm far from a frills person in a car, but this is my DD - I'm going to add sound deadening to it, among other things just for some civility. When I get a fun car it won't have anything....A/C, power windows, etc. will all be stripped.

Blind hatred exists and it sucks... just so happens that one of the biggest rivalrys of all time (mustang vs camaro) happens to also host the largest percentage of douchebags I've ever encountered.

Here's the perfect example of the 350Z forum mentality. Says his car was ment to be a "MINI VETTE" When a Corvette is an iconic car with incredible performance for the price. Comparing a 350Z to a Corvette is like me comparing my car to a BMW M5 because they both have 4 doors.[:@]A corvette will run thru the 1/4 in the mid 12's where the 350Z does it in 13.9. Sorry I'm using the motor trend numbers and not your claimed 13.2 but the other auto magazines all run similar 13.9 times in the 350Z. He then goes on to say his car has the appeal of more exotic car in styling. EXOTIC to me always implies high end sports cars like Ferrari or Porsche. In other words a "Status symbol"! Not anentry level sport cars fromNissan. He mentions refinement but I've driven both the 350Zand the Mustang. The Stangsinterior is just asrefined as a 350Z. The all black interior of the Z is a dull place to spend time compared to the colorful interior of the mustang. Ride quality goes to the 350Z. But if your concerned with a cushy ride I recomend you go buy a Cadiliac. All sports cars ride ruff! My SRT-4 is not refined but I dont expect it to be for a out the door price of $19.995. It seams that everyone fails to realize. The Mustang, 350Z, SRT-4 are all entry level cars that just about any working still can afford. None of them are exactly status symbols. Enjoy your car for what it is.

The Z is an iconic car - going back to the Datsun 240z - just for a side note.
The 350Z - is a mid-mounted front rear platform like the Vette. The wheel bases are similar, the price points aren't, the styling isn't, and the performance levels "aren't."
Saying a Vette runs a mid 12 is the same as saying my car runs a low 13, if you want to use mag numbers use them for both, not owners numbers for one and mag numbers for the other. Using that method I'm almost a second quicker than a mustang, when it reality I know its not.
By exotic - I didn't mean Ferrari, I meant "different." Exotic to me means something you don't see at every corner. The Vette and Z both offer that to an extent.
Personally I prefer the Z's interior. The seats (to me at least) are far more comfortable. The steering wheel is more suited to a sports car, the shifter looks and feels like it belongs. The speakers don't look like afterthoughts. Just little stuff feels/looks better to me. I may easily be out numbered with someone disagreeing - but I'm making a statement of opinion so thats expected.
The Z is the Vette that an average Joe can attain. Just like the Vette, there are cars that outperform it for the money (at something) but it offers great performance/looks/refinement for the price.
My car handles better than a stock mustang, and rides better. The Vette rides better than my car so I don't see the cadillac point. I had coilover on my BMW - it rode like *** and didn't handle as good as the Z - having **** poor ride quality doesn't mean you have great handling.
FWIW I've also read the Z/vette comparison in a magazine, citing the Z is the "Japanese equivalent to a Corvette, in image, history, and performance, " or something of that nature.
+1 I agree with bluebeastsrt with the new Z being a high 13 second car MAYBE mid 13's with the right driver under great conditions. The Z that I raced had new plates so I assumed that it was an 07. If they really do run 13.2 then I should be capable of a 12.2 the way I pulled this guy and we know thats not possible.

For starters, you're taking my post completely out of its intended context.
The Z is an iconic car - going back to the Datsun 240z - just for a side note.
It may be able to trace it's heritage but it's not an icon unless your in japan. Ask the average car guy about a 240Z in this country and see what their response is.
The 350Z - is a mid-mounted front rear platform like the Vette. The wheel bases are similar, the price points aren't, the styling isn't, and the performance levels "aren't."
See my comparison to an SRT-4 and the BMW M5 Similar but totally different!4 door, motor mounted up front etc.
Saying a Vette runs a mid 12 is the same as saying my car runs a low 13, if you want to use mag numbers use them for both, not owners numbers for one and mag numbers for the other. Using that method I'm almost a second quicker than a mustang, when it reality I know its not.
The 2008 LS3 Corvetteis a mid 12 second car. Even the magazines say so.
By exotic - I didn't mean Ferrari, I meant "different." Exotic to me means something you don't see at every corner. The Vette and Z both offer that to an extent.
Ok I can buy that.

Again opinion based, but you have every right to your opinion.

My point was if you want performance buy a performance car. If you worried about ride quality buy a car known for it's ride quality.
FWIW I've also read the Z/vette comparison in a magazine, citing the Z is the "Japanese equivalent to a Corvette, in image, history, and performance, " or something of that nature.
