for those of you who want to know what you can beat
There was a really good 1/4 mile times list for stock and various modified cars that a friend of mine had on his computer a while back. It had been put together by a guy he knows using real track times compiled from like 15 or so different strips around the country. Very scientific. It didn't have quite as many different cars as this list, but the info was pretty solid. I wish now that I had copied it to my hard drive before his computer crashed and burned at the end of last year.[:@]
I'll have to see if he knows where I can find the list on the net.

+1 on the above post. Those times dont mean ****. Doesnt mattter if u have a z06 vette but if u cant driver what purpose does it serve. Ive seen a guy run that z06 at local track and it did mid 13s all day . Dumbass didnt know how to drive. All three runs he made made me wana set his feet on fire.
In defense of some of the old muscle cars such as the 70 Chevelle SS. They were really hampered by their skinnypoly-glas tires. The 70 SS had 450 hp and 4:10 rear gearing. Some modern drag radials and they run12's easy.

That list sucks in many places, including the LS1 F-bodies.
And headers. The log-style exhaust manifolds they used were stupid.

Yup. even throw just some meaty steel belted radials instead of the pizza cutter bias plys and they are scary fast. Add some ladder bars and holy crap.
