ok here is the scoop, my 03 stock 5 spd GT should be running around the 14's right?
ILL ADMIT I am a rookie when It comes to racing stick.

SO for you guys with 5spds what rpm are you idleling on launch, and what is the best rpm shift point after wards. I have tried around red line (6000-6500) and I have tried 5500. I actuallly think I pick up better around 6. More or less I really need to work on launch and on 3rd. Any tips will be apreciated.

what was ur time. Probobly ur launch because redlinning shouldn't hurt ur time that much, im not gonna go into the phisics of when to shift, but it should be close to redline to put u in a good rpm for the next gear. If ur granny shifting then ur time wont be as good and ur launch might need improvement.

 

Launch it off a near dead idle. 1500k rpms or so and slip the clutch (slowly let out of it). When it grabs, let out and hold on.

 

if you have a stock 03 gt you can launch at about 2000-2500 and dump the clutch don't feather it you will just burn clutch either way you do but you will launch better if you dump it. i shift around 5700 redlining your does not hurt but you are just wasting time if you are already out of the band. as far as 3 gear goes buy a shifter because it will be a SOB until you do.
