Define Granny shifting?
Granny Shifting
When we first learn about the mysteries of the manual transmission and that third little pedal on the left we all heard something like this- “Ok-wiggle the stick and make sure it is in neutral, gently push in the clutch all the way, carefully push the stick into first gear and slowly release the clutch and give it a little gas.†This would result in one of two outcomes- a hard lurch and stall or almost no perceptible forward motion and the sweet odor of burning clutch accompanied by shouts of “Let it out! Let it out!†Once the car actually moved in first you would repeat the process for each successive gear shifting as high as 3000 rpm and letting off the gas between shifts. With practice you could do this smoothly and even quickly, conjuring visions of Dan Gurney blasting down the Mulsanne straight.
cut/paste of course
I didnt answer your PM because I thought you were being a smartass, sorry.

Thats bull. Everyone knows that you need to double clutch if your a real racer. ignor the fact that it's totaly useless and take more then twice as much time as "granny shifting". Then you can spout off about "never had your car" and being too scared to drive a real car. You can also through in bolts poping out and panals exploding from the stress of that high powered car...
Can you tell that I am bitter about that movie? Cause I can't

Ok so ive been "Granny shifiting" my whole 6 month life with a stick car, i feel better about that. I learned how to drive stick from my mom (She has a mitsu eclipse spyder gt, stock) and she never breaks a speed limit in her life. IF thats what granny shifting is then can i now ask what double clutching is? Is it still granny shifting if im racing someone and i shift at 5-6 k? I just wanna know this cause i always heard this term ever since that damn movie. which TOTALLY sucked outside of the cars, paul walker cant act and vin deisles car at the end shouldve owned that supra by more then 8 car lengths, 900 hp Hemi (OLD SCHOOL) S/C against a 544 HP supra....least thats what the spec sheet said.
unless your driving a truck from the 50's you don't even need to learn what double clutching is. But if you want to. it means that you clutch 2 times/ gear change. IE. your in first. clutch in, shift to nutral, cutch out, clutch in shift to 2nd ,clutch out. This is what they did before syncros.
now a lesson in rev matching:
when downshifting, while the clutch is in, blip the throttle. once the revs are at or above the required speed for the next lowest gear, release the clutch. this will save on grinded gears and allow you to get into lower gears than any other method.
