Last night I pulled up to a girl in a Eclipse the (225HP model). She wouldn't race off the light so I was ahead rolling in 2nd gear around 40mph finally she krept up next to me and we both punched it. She couldn't pull ahead till when she shifted gear or I heard a whistle noise sounding like turbo and she did have exhaust a bunch of tach along the driver side of the windshield, so I know this was modded. My 88GT is stock, but I think if i shifted into 3rd sooner I could of held. By the way what are the right shift point on my car cause I usually bring all gears to 6000 rpm (red lined) before shifting. Its not the part of losing that pisses me off it the fact that I lost toa dam ECLIPSE. I plan I doing alot to my car, probally alot sooner know. See I respect If I get beat by a camaro or something and I have and don't care. After I domodes If I see this girl she will only see my new tailights lenses and be choking onthe smoke from my burnout.

 

1. If it was turbocharged, she should have left you a lot sooner, especially with a roll race.
2. You have to play with the shift points. I know that in my car it is quickest when I shift around 5700, but it isn't a 5.0.

I think what reall bothers you is that you lost to a girl. [8D] lol

 

Yea, Ill admit it makes it worse losing against a girl. But, the what realy gets me is picturing this girl going "oh hey, a 5.0 tried to race me and I won, heh, heh. The shift point you mentioned seems good for me even though yers isnt the 87-93. I forget if my 5.0 has power in low rpm or high rpm, I had a 01Gt and I think its power was in the high RPM's.

if my knowledge is correct you are stating opposites.... I think the 5.0L's made power in the higher RPM's along with the DOHC mod motors while the SOHC mod motors were all about low end power

I'm just getting around to giving tech advice here and there so take it with a grain of salt

Don't the older 5.0s stop making peak power after 4200 rpms? If that's true, seems like 6 grand is a long ways to go.

Do you know anyone personally that has worked on a Fox?

 

Don't know why so many people want to race my 5.0. When I had my 01GT nobody wanted to race. Do people know that the 5.0 isnt really that fast or because it was considered fast back in the day so people want to prove something.
