So, its around 9 at night here, the weather isnt too shabby and i had to mail a insurance payment. So i took the Stang out for a ride, dropped it off and was comming back and i see a older camaro pull out and get right on me.

So i dropped it down and took off, he didnt come. So i just drove normally, then it splits into 2 lanes and he is yelling out the window how nice my car sounds. So i thank him and as him what his had, just stright pipes. So i tell him i just bought my SLP's for mine and he can have mine. I was gonna trash them. So we pull over and chat for a while then i leave..

Im comming home and i am at a stop light, goes green i keep going. There is a minivan to my right and at the next light in a 4 way i see a high end car waiting to pull right and get on to our road.. So i dropped it down and just rumbled past him. As soon as the van got past the road i saw him come after me. So i pull ahead while he is comming along and he tries to pull a weave and blow me away.

He gets in the other lane and as soon as i saw his headlights in the other lane, i dropped it to 2nd gear and he was starting to creep on me! Then as i was ending 3rd he had a 1/2 on me!! lol... I didnt have my bottle filled at the moment. So i couldnt spray him! I wish i did i couldt have waxed him.

So he slows right down after and we try to talk, but he also told me how nice it sounded and he had one before his Mercedes. Then he gave the heads up and i hear his motor rev so i was in 2nd still and i just gas it and we are side by side but he is slowly creeping on me. I couldnt belive it. lol. I dont know anytihng about Mercedes, so i didnt know what to expect. It would have been a 11 second 2 door and i would have still tried.

I have never been beaten around here, so i wanted to ask him a few Q's. We pull in his driveway, which BTW is HUGE. And i ask what it is, im reading on the back while he tells me... Mercedes CLK 55 AMG... I have no clue what the heck it is. But he claims 300+ HP. It was pretty nice. So i just got owned for the first time but a 1/2 car...It made me kinda happy. Cause now i know i can get him come spring. lol....

 

The AMG didn't tell you anything? Yeah.. if you had problems with that one.... stay away from the AMG SL series! They are in the 600hp+ range! you're lucky to run into one tho... they aren't very common. There is an AMG Kompressor around here that isn't too shabby!!!.

 

So tell me what kinda numbers these things put up, cant be out of the mid- high 13 range. It was an automatic. Its the only Mercedes car around here i have ever seen, besides those dumb SUV things. Everyone has one of them.

 

Your talking to the AMG man. They push out around 360 HP. Which is really nothing because if you met a SL 55 amg you would be dealing with 493 HP or a SL 65 AMG and you have a twin turbo V12 pushing out 604 HP and 738 lb. ft. of torque. They are pretty fast though. BTW all V8 AMG are kompressors.

 

I saw an AMG run 13 flat all night at the track. It was VERY impressive, it was SO quiet going through the traps.

Ever see that video of that Silver E55 AMG vs Kylabite and his modded 03 Cobra? That AMG blew him away, completely stock.

 

It was pretty awesome. They are pretty loud themselves at high rpms, i could hear his engine whining over my exhaust. lol

 

Casper I know you been having trouble with us 05 guys. I just got mine and I'm nutts about the stock power. I promised my self that I'd stay out of it until at leat until the first oil change 3000mi. "just to get it good and broke in" ( The dealer told me there is no break in period BTW) Anyway I had some sort of infinity pull along side me ( Guy in full 3 pc Suite ) He reved a few times I didn't bite.
This is downtown Louisville KY. Next light he looks over an Sruggs his shoulders. We take off normal When I hit 3rd he goes so I took the bait, DIDDN"T get over 5g I promise you, and I had a nose on him and let off. I'm not a speed guy but wow I was pleasently surprised. Can't wait until the self imposed break in period is over. Until then I'll just enjoy the attention being a mustang GT owner brings.. It's on every street corner....... Wow Not used to this. I've been driving my 4x4 Chevy S-10 4.3 V6 since 95. It's a Tank.. What do you say about the break in deal?

 

Yea i know from first hand how those AMGs run. My uncle had that exact same car the CLK 55 AMG and man when he let my drive it, it flys. Hes sold that now and has a porsche carrea S which is amazlingly fast and handles better then any car ive ever been in. But back on topic, yea those AMGs cand put a pounding on you, and ied love to have one

The later two cars have 0-60mph, listed as 4.2 sec. Fast, and expensive. The SL65 AMG is highway rated at 12mpg, Someone I work with's Father has one of these beast's (he owns a Kenworth or Peterbuilt Truck dealership) and gets around 7-8 mpg most of the time.

I bet that even at the lower priced CLK55 AMG Coupe, that gave casper98 a run for his money, cost of $70 grand, everyone would agree that you could build one blazing fast street Mustang. You could even make an 05 GT into a rocket with the $40K above MSRP to spend. LOL

Of course, with all the bling that these high-end car connoiseur's can afford, they may be running at a weight disadvantage. lol OK, just had to get a stab in at the rich folk, who get to buy what I can't. :-(
