Everyone always says Firebird equals Camaro but keep in mind there are differences.

Z28 = Trans Am = Formula

WS6 = SS

Firehawk = SLP Optioned SS

The Firehawk and SLP SS came with a high flow lid and high flow cat-back which gave them a nice 10-15hp over a stock LS1.

Also with the Z28 and Formula the standard gear ratio was 2.73 in the Automatics.
Thats about right. The only thing that puts the WS6 and SS over the base formula and Z28 are therear gears. They come with 3.42's I believe in boththe manual and auto.The engines are the same. The ram air thing really doesnt add and HP.It sounds like a good idea, but it doesnt start working until around 120 mph.

Well with 100 pounds more than a fox body, my sn95 is apparently about 1.5 seconds slower in the 1/4 (according to people on this site)[8D]

I was just wondering if the z28 guys say the same thing about their LS1's

No need for us Z28 guys to say anything...results speak for themselves.

It's a bust...any given LS1 can beat another....as the records stand a Z28 has gone 12.87 @ 108 while an SS has been to 12.9x @ 107mph... So I guess in that regard we win.. LOL (It's hardly fair to claim that though considering one was in mineshaft fall air and the other ran during summer months)

Actually the WS6 and SS had the 3.42 with the T-56 only just like all the other cars. The SS and WS6 did however get the 3.23 standard with the Automatic.

As for the air inductions neither worked at any speed they were just glorified cols air intakes.

One little known fact is the WS6 and SS also had a larger stock exhaust that only a f-body fanatic could tell appart from the Z/TA/Formula. It used a larger intermidiate pipe 3" vs 2.75", larger muffler body and 2.50" outlets vs 2.25".

I've always heard that for every 100 lbsyou shed youwill only gain .1 to .2 in the 1/4. That shouldnt be enough weight to make you that much slower. I dont know a lot about the sn95's but I thought that the 94-95's were about on the same level with the fox bodies since they had the same motor.

The weight difference isnt going to be the deciding factor with the f body. Its going to be the gears. Stock for stocka manual SS with 3.42's will beat a Z28 with an auto and 2.73's.

Ok I wasnt sure about that.

Ya I know they are about the same, you just hear that they are sooo much slower from some people even though they run almost the exact same times

I was just curious if the LS1 guys did the same sort of thing

LOL! This reminds me of when people ask who would win in a fight, me or my brother (we are twins). We don't like to answer it, but in the end, we both know who would win! (me)
So....would that make you the WS6 or the SS?
