Default Taurus vs. Mustang v6

This was kind of a race, for the cop anyhow. I had just got back from getting some lunch from "Hero's" an local All-American Burger place as they refer to it. I was pretty content because I had a large cheese burger and such. I really had no intention of racing the guy, because I had nothing to prove. I love my car, and I don't want to put it through any pain by flooring it to the ground. At least I think it would cause stress on the motor, wouldn't it? Even if it doesn't, racing doesn't really excite me like it does some other people. The most I want to do is go to the track a couple times a year, and see what it can do. Anyway, back to the story at hand! We were going down Gauze Boulevard (a lovely little place that is way more than 1/4 mile), and I pulled up to the light listening to my music peacefully. As I said above, I was content with driving around, and enjoying myself.

The guy on the other hand was with a friend of his, and looking for a race with someone. He revved his engine, and I declined by shaking my head. The friend pointed and then laughed because I shook my head. I threw my hand up, and proceeded to shake it to infer that I was not interested. The friend continued to point, and laugh. I'm not one to let things get to me, but I like the saying "put your money where your mouth is," and this guy had quite a big mouth. I decided I would race to the speed limit, and then stop. Obviously we didn't have the same intentions. We went from a green light and I had the jump on him. He flew past me as I stopped accelerating at 45 m.p.h... my guess is that he continued going past the limit (I suppose he did win in a sense, it looked like he was pulling on me? Who knows?). There happened to be a place where cops can rest easily, and go after people who do this type of thing. And that is what happened, the cop pulled out from the parking lot, and darted after this guy. Within no time at all the cop had him pulled over, and he was walking to the window. Even though the guys were rude, and they were being jackasses... I still can't help but to feel sorry for them. Maybe he should invest in a radar if he intends to speed, or not speed at all. I prefer the latter, but that's just me. That's my story! I know it's boring, and wholly uninteresting. I just thought I would share it with you all because it was technically a win for the cop.

I have a huge respect for cops in my old town... the first time I was pulled over for not paying attention to my speedometer (I was pretty new to driving), the guy let me off, and he was incredibly nice about it. He just told me to slow it down, and drive safely. I had always heard bad things about the cops in Slidell. This guy was as good as gold to me. I suppose the cops are only mean to those who deserve it. After all, I wasn't putting anyone in danger going 50 m.p.h at 12 AM with no one on the road. Thanks, to whoever that guy was. And thank you guys for reading my boring post!

thats good that u didnt waste gas on them....sounds like they did the ol ricer fly-by and then got pulled over. u shouldnt feel bad because theyre the ones who initiated the race, so dont feel bad, its their dumb fault.

I didn't actually view it from that perspective. I understand what you mean now, it really hadn't crossed my mind. I was just appalled by the whole situation, even what happened to those guys. Too bad for them, heh. I'm just glad I didn't go past the speed limit. It was also a good thing that there wasn't a lot of traffic. I kept the same pace, and the two of them speeded by me. It's better that they get a ticket, opposed to me.

damn kids. i love the ones that laugh when you don't want to race. racing to the speed limit is fun by then you're in front and have made your point. nice job not driving recklessly just to make a bigger point.

Even if traffic was light, there were places in which they couldn't pass. As I think about it... if they had been too busy paying attention to trying to beat me, the result could have be catastrophic. If that wasn't bad enough, just yesterday I saw a young guy with a cobra convertible swerving through traffic and tailgating (not the kind in Ohio, heh). He was speeding down Gauze at about 3 P.M. looking for races, and assuming you haven't been to Gauze Boulevard before, the traffic was just starting to get heavy. I say this with confidence because I had to visit quite a few places, and I would always see him flying up through traffic. People on Gauze are very stubborn compared to those on the freeway (if you have your blinker on, they won't let you over. Pretty much the same in New Orleans when you're headed over the high rise). And I can say that he was probably lucky for that fact. They wouldn't let him pass, and do other stupid things. I know not everyone shares my opinion about safety, and I respect that. I don't see the reason to put others in danger, though.

I've seen a lot of posts about how people have maneuvered through traffic while going 60-70 in a 35-45 zone. It wasn't so much the fact that they did it. It was the fact they have the nerve to brag about it. This seems like a great place with very nice people. I don't think I'll ever see a post with that content, ever. That's a great quality about a mesageboard full of people.
