My friend has a John Works Mini. They are tons of fun and are decently quick in a straight line. I was in the car when we topped it out and we were doing about 145-150.

I had a friend in high school with an original Mini from the 60's, not sure exactly which year. It was slow in a straight line, but not horrible slow considering what it was. But holy CRAP that thing could take a corner. 4 average sized high school football players could each grab a corner and carry the car around with some effort. Every time I rode in it with him, I was always afraid a hawk would mistake us for a gaint rabbit, and carry us away.

I've actually driven a 04 cooper S works. It's wheelspin on command in that thing. So much fun in the corners, and the feul mileage is decent too. It really has a lot of grunt considering it all comes from 1.6 liters.

And if you don't watch out you will be surprised... It's not faster than the GT, but it comes damn close if you don't keep on top of your game.
