Turboed eclipse. Local kid around here drives a rumored twin turbo eclipse, with nitrous. I know for sure it's turbo'd, I could hear the BOV's. Nos, I'm not sure but I know he wouldn't be spraying on the street, atleast not tonight, it's like 10 degrees out.

ANYWAY. I was out cruisin and saw this kid, whom I've messed around with before, so I got on it a bit and passed him. Then we came up to a red light, we were both lined up. Seemed like he wanted to race but he wasn't revving or anything, neither was I. So light turns green, we both take off a lil quicker than normal, then I got on it a bit. We both took off. We were about dead even the whole way till I cut off a lil bit into 4th. I'm runnin on like 7 cyls or a weak 8 because one of my plug wires layed on the header and melted earlier today, and the car didn't have what it normally has. I got on it pretty hard in second and didn't light em up like it normally did.

So anyways I have a question. For him to be able to run with me like that, I mean in 3rd we were like dead even, he might have even had a lil on me... what do you guys think he's runnin for boost and what not? Once I get my plug wires replaced and what not, I'd like to find him again and run a real race.

What's he got under that hood?

BTW it was a late 90s vert.

 

if all you got is what is listed in your sig...and you kept up with him .. then I doubt he is twin turboed or all that wild on the boost

 

Or a very crappy driver but i doubt he could be that bad IF he had twin turbo's. Or you sure he knewya'll were racing?

 

I know he has atleast 1 turbo. and yea he knew we were racing, once we got goin we both took off. I'm gonna find him again after I get my plug wires and set up a real race, see what happens. And figure out what he's got under the hood.

 

I was just messing with you man. Have fun and be safe. The track would be your best bet.

 

cars ran 14's (high 14) in stock HEALTHY trim, add 15 or so years to a 4 cylinder under boost and I'd be impressed if he was making 150HP with twice the stock boost setting. They were single turbo and it was tight in the bay with one....I would not be bragging about beating up on an overweight AWD car that was never really considered a mustang threat and I'm willing to bet is quite tired under the valve covers.

Oh wait...forgot about it being a vert...add another 500 pounds. Your 3500 pound 220 HP car vs a 3600 pound 150-180 hp car...however I give him the advantage with the Tbo and the colder temps.

 

car is not AWD, and I'm betting with the amount of stuff they've put into this car that it's been rebuilt. I'm gonna try to find this kid and talk to him and see what he's got goin on with this car. And I'd like to get plugs and wires and run him again

 

get some boots for those wires...

 

They don't take too much to be pretty quick, he could have a stock engine with the boost turned way up and probably be running pretty good.

 

3600 pounds? Don't you mean 2600 pounds? Those little cars will fly, I pride myself on my driving and I had a 96 GT with bolt-ons and one was spanking my butt with no problems.
