Default 5.8L Fox?

At a light today a Fox Body Mustang pulled along side of me, gave a jab at the throttle in hoping of playing. We did a very short race, around a 1/16th of a mile, i had him by about 2.5 cars at this point, before he slowed down and turned around. I noticed he had '5.8' badges on the sides, as well as the rear. I'm kind of confused, I've never heard of a 5.8L Fox before, added wouldn't his exhaust be somewhat loud, and be able to dust me in a race? Wanted to follow the guy and make him pop the hood, but it's Valentines day and my date was more important than an engine

Anyone shed some light on the situation?

My buddy has a '70 Mach with a 351C- it will stroll to say the least. hehehe

I wonder if the dude just did what he had to do to make a 351W truck motor work in the Fox, I would hope not though, because that would have been much better than the factory 302.

True but a lot of people that do that swap simply think more cubes = better and don't really take the time to put it together right. I've seen several 351 cars that were turds.

Ya if the guy just threw in a stock 351 out of an old f150 or something, he would be making about what 220 hp instead of 225 out of the 302[8D]

But a nice HCI 351 or a stroker puts out some serious power
