Default MPH VS ET

Just wondering what stock or CAI 3v S197's are running in the mph range in the quarter mile....I am running 102 but my et is crap. I know part of the problem is my 60, which on street tires is 2.2. For example, today I ran a lightning which ran a 3.2 at 100....i ran a 13.9 at 102. Is the issue traction, or do I need the driver mod?

Driver mod FTW, every time. Good 60's help ET but mph is going to be determined by power and how high and fast you shift(if it's a manual).

Yep sounds like you need a little more practice. You should be trapping 103 to 105 and the average E/T seams to be around 13.5 to 13.8 for your cars. I'm sure your going to read high 12's for an S197 have been donebut it doesn't get done often.

Don't you know whenever some skilled driver posts anunexpectedlylow ET for their car, that automaticallybecomes the new "average run" for allthe bench racers out there?

At my track, I have seen intake and tuned s197s trap anywhere between 98 mph to 108 mph. Not really sure what mods you have or where your track is and if you are manual or auto, which will all affect your trap speed. Maybe some more info and we can give a more complete answer. Your 60' could use some work. Don't expect the world with only a few passes down the track, but experience will reap the biggest reward.

high 12s gets done with tune and CAI...he's missing a CRITICAL component there. [8D]

Thanks for the replies. I am a 06 manual, only mod is a steeda CAI. Tune is the canned Stedda one. As per practice, I run quite often, but this track seems to have my number. At my local 1/8 mile track(Phenix City), I run consistant 8.9's, but I can't get anywhere near that at Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds. I have ran5 or so near stock S197 stangs there, and outran a couple and lost to a couple. I have not been privy to a stock or near stock s197 running anything lower than a 13.7 at that track, but I am sure someone will chime in different. After looking at my timeslips, I know that it is takeoff that is getting me. My next mods will be drag radials and a short throw shift.

Thanks for the answers/advice.

FYI... your tune IS a mod... so your CAI isn't your 'only' mod.
