I am different. I don't launch at a set speed. I launch as I build RPM. I have no idea if it holds true or not but my logic tels me that if I am raising RPM as I launch it will not eat RPM like it would if you drop the clutch while your holding a static 2000 RPM. But hey, it works for me. I'm pulling 1.9 60 foots on street tires doing that. It takes practice..
Basically like an auto with a stall, there's already a pre load on the rear end so all you're doing is adding RPM as you're accelerating versus a non loaded rev to 3k and then dumping the clutch.

You guys can launch high....anything over 2200'ish on DR's causes me to blow the tires off.

I just don't like the feeling of staying at say 2000 RPM and then watching the RPM's fall as the clutch starts to engauge. It just feels like a waste of energy to me. But if the clutch comes out as the RPM is on a steady climb then it remains that way. I guess in my mind it falls under the old.. Objects at rest tend to stay at rest and objects in motion tend to stay in motion. [&:]

just wondering, why will your MPH be higher. What even determines your MPH. Like some cars will trap about 10 mph higher than a stang but still be very close time.
MPH is a good indicator of how much power a car is making, 60' and 330' times will tell you well the car is working i.e. how it hooked and launched.

i launch at about 1800 rpm on street tires, it will squeal a bit but get good traction, 1500 bogs down, 2000 roasts the tires..1700, 1800 is inbetween

I can't believe some of you guys don't have DR's at least. Tires was one of the single best purchases I made. I would have got them sooner if I had known that they'd make that much of a difference.

I can't believe you're not atleast using ET Streets at the strip. Tires was one of the single best purchases I made. I would have got them sooner if I had known that they'd make that much of a difference.

Bah if you did some suspension work you would be fine on a DR, you only need ET Streets if you are making huge power, or if you don't want to do your suspension.
