Default Driving Tips?

So I have a friend who just had a kid w/ his girlfriend at 19. So logically, his parents get him a LS1 Trans Am, becuase it's more baby-safe then a 95 Mustang convertible. Makes perfect sense. Anyway, he likes to talk **** about how is car is faster then mine. I have never raced him but probably will end up doing so soon. I really don't think his car is that much faster then mine considering I have gears and good tires. I was considering buying a CAI and tune, but I am saving up and should have a turbo or supercharger by Christmas, just not sure which one yet.

Anyway, I was wanting some insight on driving tips. For instance, what's the best way to launch? My car is manual, btw.

Go out and practice and see what works best for you and your car.

Go out and rev it to 3k and drop it see what happens.

It will be a close race. Especially seeing you have 20" rims. Is his car an auto or manual. If he has mods you could have some trouble.

Without the tune/cai he has you (considering good driversin both cars)... get a tune/cai and you would take it.

Just my educated opinion....

It might be 'Close' with your Nittos and the gear so it's pretty much a drivers race. (if bothcars hadgreat drivers the LS1 takes it but that isn't reality 99.9% of the time)

I really want to save up for a Whipple or Hellion kit, but that will be atleast till Christmas. I may just get me a intake/tune from Brenspeed to hold me over.

well for starters sell those nasty 20" fiddy cent rims, and get you some 17" or even 15" with some sidewall. that would leave you money for a tune an cai too.
Ok if your on the street get your car up to about 2700-3000rpm @ most and let out on the clutch smoothly, and when you catch traction then you can finish letting out and row through the gears, if your on the track run your rpms up to 3500-3750 and repeat the steps you tried on the street.....

there's so many of these how to drive/ driving tip threads coming up im gonna make a video of how to launch on the street, and how to launch on the track next time im out.
