This morning I was headed in on the interstate and came up to a light next to a GP GXP.. I give the guy a thumbs up and he nods. Then I sit at the light and say 'I wonder if he will take the bait'. Light goes green and I start to ease off the line, and roll into it. As I glance to to the side I see his front lift and I know he is going for it. I smile to myself for a moment (only for a moment) and I push the pedal all the way down... welp.. 1st gear was about useless... it was aparently damp out and I spun the rest of first, went to 2nd, no go, I had to ease off the pedal a bit to get traction. I glace over and he is maybe half a car length back and gaining, I finally hook 2nd and run it up to redline, glance in the mirror again he is a car length back but holding there, I go for 3rd gear....whiff....I try again, no use I suck. He took my missed gear as me just letting off and let off about 1/2 car length back. DOH.

Driver error almost got him a win on this one. I need to figure out why I can't hit third gear 99% of the time (aside from the fact that I suck)..

I rarely get to race anything 'decent' so it was definately fun. Maybe I will catch him on a nice day when it's dry out. Probably win bya couple lengths before I biff 3rd. haha

 

I think you may have just created the need for a new phrase. And so, here it shall be-

I'll sell ya a factory hurst shifter out of a newer F-body. That should keep ya from missing 3rd gear. . I bought it the other day from a cz28.com member. But, I found a better deal on a different short shifter, on eBay. So, I think I'm just going to sell the Hurst.

 

Hmmm.. that is damn tempting... I need to figure out if it's me sucking or an issue with the trans (I have warranty still for a bit longer) once that is done I would definately be up for the shifter.

We've all been there S8ER, I almost lost to a V6 Stang (like a 96)not to long ago by doing exactly what you did. Damp pavement ftl.

 

I almost got beat by a Honda del sol with a fart can on 290, due to zero traction and serious sideways action. I could not find a thread about them killing me or something..... Some peop,e I tell ya...
