No offense, but comparing a SVT Focus to a bottom feeder Mustang is like comparing a GT500 to a Taurus.

You do know, that stock for stock, an '02 SVT Focus would give an '05+ V6 Stang a very goodrun for its money, right? Yeah, they're stupid for dissing Mustangs. But, they're still decently quick, and will beat about any V6 Stang made. An SVT Focus would beat a 99-04 V6 Stang easily. Andone would absolutely monkey stomp a single port sixxer.

I was checking out some info on my daughter's Focus on aforum. They truly must be jealous of our cars, because all they could say was insulting comments. One guy was bragging about how his 2002 SVT Focus beat a V6 Mustang. I couldn't help myself but ask the guy what year was that Mustang. He wasn't sure, he thinks it was a New Edge....but likely was the generation before that!
Another guy said he thought Ford making the V6 was an insult to the Mustang name, that you didn't see any V6 Corvettes. I wanted to say, "and you drive WHAT?"
I did give them a link to a rumored V6 Corvette.

Then they were dissing the GT.....saying how they don't like to waste their gas on racing them!

Not only that, but you are driving a LEGEND and not a Rice-Want-A-Be Ford Focus. Even our '05+ V6 have more hp than the latest mighty V8 Thunderbird.
Sorry, But I would much rather drive a car that has the name Mustang written on it than one that says SVT Focus.

19 years agoI had to drive a Dodge Omni that only ran on 3 cyl's, had to stop every 10 miles or so to put in water because it leaked, had no heat and used more gas than most big blocks because it was such a POS so I would have gladly taken a Festiva, Civic, Pinto enter name of cheap car here.
To them I say be happy with what you have and respect what others have purchased, why ricers can't do that is beyond me, all I ever hear from them is "my 4cyl can beat your 8cyl" or "it took 8 cyl to beat my 4cyl" without taking into account both are just air pumps and power to weight is king, who gives a good crap how you got the the finish line as long as you get there first.

I might have to disagree with some of you here. I'd say an SVT focus is a driver's race against an new edge v6. I personally own an '03 SVT Focus and is slow as *****!! There is no down low power at all, you have to keep the car at pretty high rpms for it to accelerate decently. They are rated at 15.8 at th 1/4 so the average driver will likely see low 16s. Don't get me wrong though, it's a very fun carthat handles and brakes impressively, butthere's just no comparison against my gt.
I find it weird how most focus owners diss mustangs though. I've even heard, "i'll take an svt focus over a cobra anyday," which is crazy if you ask me. But i guess they are biased like most of us are, to each they're own i guess.

So you are saying the Mustang V6 is the "bottom feeder?" Perhaps the older V6 Mustangs but hardly the '05+. If you look at hp history of Mustangs, you will see that even the "lowly" '05+ V6 Mustangs have more hp than some of the previous generation GTs.

That's like saying, the average driver in an '04 Mustang GT is going to see low 15's, because they're rated at 14.8 (http://www.exoticcarsite.com/0-60-qu...mile-times.htm). You can never believe what cars are rated at. LS1's are rated at mid-high 13's and see low 13's very regularly. From real world street racing experience, I can tell you that an SVT Focus will hang right with an auto S197 V6 Mustang and would beat a New Edge sixxer by a decent margain. And of course the car's going to feel **** slow to you. You're comparing your mid-high 13 second 4.10 geared '02 GT to a mid-low 15 second car. If I were to go drive my old 2000 Cavy Z24, after having my bolt-on/geared Z28, of course I'd think it felt **** slow and wouldn't compare to anything either.
